Attended with wife and her sisters yesterday (20/01/24). Service was acceptable but slow. I had cod and fries. The fries were overcooked, dry and stuck together. The cod, which is described as "line caught" (really?) was on the small side and had the skin on (yuk). Some people don't mind that but many don't and it's unusual (clearly profit first). The Madri lager was good, but our next meeting will be elsewhere.

Oh what a dreadful evening 19th Jane We've been many times although we don't live locally it's always worth the drive !!! NOT AGAIN! 50 mins for the starter to come out and that was asking Jess our w aitresswho was lovely(not her fault) Not impressed when it came out,The main was shocking my partner was able to eat some of his seabass, but mine was so burnt I Don't know how they dared bring it out!! Definitely not returning after all these years and we're not alone by the look of the other reviews..

11 bad reviews since the 14th october and sadly mine is also bad. Lunch booking so it wasn?t busy with only 19 people eating. We were a table of 4. Service was good with 3 staff on. Dirty cutlery and plates on the tables which has been mentioned in some of the other recent reviews. Sea bass was nice. Fish and chips greasy. Burger was terrible. Starter and desert menu poor choices in our view so we didn?t bother. 6 soft drinks and the 4 main courses was over £100. It?s just not worth it I?m afraid. £20/head yes ok you?d go again but at over £100 I?m afraid we won?t be visiting again. Years ago this used to be a higher end venue. Now sadly part of a chain and it?s poor. The food is definitely not being prepared freshly and is clearly the packaged reheat job as found in a lot of these chain pubs. I?m a retired chef so understand the industry. This kind of setup is fine as long as they charge accordingly. Probably why on a Saturday lunchtime the place wasn?t even a quarter full.

Never write reviews but my experience here was so awful I wouldn?t want anyone else to waste their money. Came for an anniversary meal with my partner and the first thing the waitress said to us upon arrival was that there was no available tables, before even saying hello. After establishing that we had a booking we were instructed to order a drink from the bar whilst the table was prepared. We were greeted by bar staff that said we couldn?t order food from the bar before listening that we were just ordering drinks. This probably could?ve been overlooked but? - Tried to get the waitresses attention multiple times as we had finished our drinks, eventually asked the lady who bought our starters out - The starters were not cleared before our mains arrived despite a waitress walking past multiple times - Both starters and mains were completely tasteless, with even the roast potatoes being rock solid - The toilets were vile Got the bill and ran a mile. So disappointing, would?ve got got better service and nicer food at KFC

Normally one my favourite places meals out with family/partner received a email voucher stating 50% off mains till 19th, was bitterly disappointed after booking meal for 4 to find its valid 8th to 19th and it's only the 6th so it couldn't be used, really shouldn't be sending offers that are not clear on terms kind of put a dampner on the evenings end as we wouldn't have Booked for the date if had known. A lot of money spent poor experience

Dropped in today for coffee and dessert. Sat away from restaurant in bar area, went to the bar and I was totally ignored. Invisible. Waited and waited, watching bar staff come and go. No one made even the slightest effort to acknowledge or serve me. We left. No one asked why. This is the third visit for me and the last. Always the same. Atrocious service. Or none at all.

It has been a year since we last visited, when we found the service to be poor and the food very average. We were tempted back by an email offer to celebrate my birthday. It gave a QR code and the t&c's stated: "Receive up to 3 courses for free. One guest can receive one free starter when another full-priced starter is purchased, one free main when a full-priced main is purchased and one free dessert when a full-priced dessert is purchased". We waited 20 minutes for the drinks' order to be taken and delivered even though the venue was not busy. When we came to order food, we explained that we only wanted main meals, assuming (as the offer said) that if we paid for a full price main meal one other (cheaper) main would be free. However, we were told that in order to obtain a free main meal we would have to pay for a full three course meal - which we did not want. The most senior member of staff was the acting shift manager, who said that (whatever the wording of the email offer) she had been told only to give a free course if another full-price 3 course meal had been purchased. This is obviously a Trading Standards issue, compounded by the fact that the venue was also advertising "two main meals for the price of one" the following week. Needless to say, we did not stop to eat and will not be returning. I pointed out that the cutlery on the table was dirty and there was some food stuck on the side plate, which had not been washed properly. Neither were removed from the table when we left.

Recently booked online for lunch, which came up as confirmed. But did not receive a confirmation email. Rang the following day, but took some time for somebody to answer, to double check booking had gone through ok. Only to be told they were fully booked with a function. Lucky we did not turn up at booked time only to be turned away !! Not impressed with customer service at all. Will not bother to book here again.!

Average. Not been for quite a while and it wasn?t as good as previous. Some of the carpet and seating in the bar area is frayed and unkempt. 3 side plates on our table were dirty along with two water glasses. We put them to one side but they never cleared them during our time there. It was a Sunday and out of our party some ordered the Sunday lunch and some off the normal menu. They accommodated an allergy well for one guest. Overall the Sunday roasts were disappointing with very little meat in comparison with the vegetables. My own the duo of beef was no way worth the £21.50 as the slice of sirloin was minuscule. Another person had the normal sirloin roast and it was extremely griseley and fatty. A few had fish dishes and they were lovely. The deserts were very poor in particular the cheesecake trio as it shouldn?t be called cheesecake as there was no biscuit base to it. Just a few scattered crumbs. Clearly an attempt at modern speciality desert but a total failure as without the base it was just far too sweet and overpowering to eat. With drinks (only two drinking alcohol though) it worked out at £44 per head and only 2 had 3 courses. Overall it just wasn?t worth the price. Had it have been 25% less then you?d accept it but I doubt we will return. I grow food as my job and whilst I appreciate prices have increased, this wasn?t value for money in particular the beef roasts are hugely overpriced for what you get.

We enjoyed our previous visit but this time was not as good. We had to wait for an hour after ordering for starters. The mains were fine. The brownie I ordered for dessert was miniscule. I did query if it was the mini pudding version by mistake but was told it was that it was not the mini. I would never order a dessert here again. Drinks, especially the wine is expensive.

I met a friend at the Restaurant and the service and food was very good. I got there early, but there were no opening times on the doors and there were lights on inside the Pub. trying to do a survey on another site was proving very difficult, possibly due to our Computer set up.

Ben, Meg and Lucy were our wait staff for our large party Christmas get together, what a great atmosphere, the servers were great, nothing too much trouble, we were never rushed and the service impeccable. The food was excellent even for our diverse dietary requirements! Thank you!

Really disappointing service - wrong drinks order, persistent confusion over pre orders and a main course that arrived when the rest of the party had finished theirs, just not good enough. Food was fine but not enough to make up for the service.

Absolutely brilliant service by all staff especially charlie who was so attentive and on the ball . My first time there in 25 years and it won?t be the last . Food bang on and on time and correct to order

All the staff we encountered were friendly, helpful and really approachable.Starters were really tasty.Had the king prawn and crab linguine for main, no real taste to the dish, very bland and oily which just left a greasy feel to my mouth. Paid extra for the scallops which were not cooked all the way through. We also had the pork belly, which was enjoyed, but again scallops were not cooked all the way through.Had the trio of desserts, all were really tasty but could have done with some custard or cream with the brownie and crumble. Second dessert was the crumble, again really tasty but did not come with enough custard for the amount of crumble.Overall quite expensive for the quality of the food we received.
