My local shop. Five-ten minutes walk from my house. Everyone has one - and its just luck whether yours is decent or not. Mine is ok. If you have never been in a Londis - its a bit like the other corner shop chain 'Spar' but probably not so cheap I think. This Londis is very convenient for me as I walk passed it on the way back from the dreaded school run. Now I say fortunate as in its very convenient if you have say run out of bread or milk - so I can get some in passing. Double edged sword though - as the seven year old then wants a comic, sweets, stickers, 'crazy bones' etc,. as well (not so good). But as long as you can deal with ensuing impromptu tantrums when you say no or you have a bottomless pockets thats ok. The store is well laid out and has a reasonable range of food products along with magazines, newspapers and an off licence area. They also have a dvd hire section (although I have never used it). Its very clean and one of the only local newsagents that is spacious enough for me to push the 3-wheeler buggy round without fear of trashing the shelving and displays in the process. The downside is the staff are at best civil. I never seem to manage a smile from them no matter how much I try. In fact the boss is actually the worst having spent ten years myself in Retail management I know you have to lead by example. His example is to grunt and not use any manners, and look grumpy in general. He is safe in the knowledge that he has a reasonably captive market - and will always make money being en route from 3 busy schools. And us - being the great British will always be too polite to complain.
