Went here on New Year’s Day for a special occasion. We have been before the previous year in New Year’s Day, a birthday occasion. Previous year and other times we have been have been fine. We were in a larger party of 11. Sat us in the function rooms by the look of things. Service was quite slow, starters came and they were warm and not hot. Once we had eaten those I would estimate 40 minutes before our mains came out. We have 2 small children who were by now rather hungry, I admit had we known the gap we would have asked they brought the children’s meals out with the starters. Then again the food I would describe as aired so maybe on the pass a little too long. We did feel a little out of the way as not in the main restaurant. Seemed to many people for the number of staff to me. Some then ordered sweets and this again took far too long to come out. Finally we asked for the bill, this again took 25 minutes to get this to us as we were ready to leave. £379 for a very very average experience isn’t good. I complained to be answered by a lady who explained we are sorry ill feed it back to the restaurant.
I rarely complain but again all I will say is I don’t pay £379 to be told then thanks for the feedback on your poor experience, noted.
As a premium restaurant I would expect a better experience across all aspects not to mention the birthday we had in the group.
There are much better experiences for this sort of money.

Very quiet night in the bar, so atmosphere was lacking but food was very good and our own company was on point ;-)

Come here every Christmas, and other times of the year too. The food is incredible and one of the big reasons to keep coming back and trying the fantastic menu. Theres always lots to choose from and the menu is refreshed often

The Wayfarer is one of our favourite restaurants to visit. Always a friendly, relaxed atmosphere and the service is perfect. Dave is our regular waiter, service with a smile and friendly banter. The food is really tasty, traditional homemade meals. Chicken, gammon and leek pie is a particular favourite.
Large car park to the rear of restaurant.

We held my 40th birthday celebrations in the Coral Room. We were a smaller party of 15 and didn't pre order but the service and speed of the food coming out was excellent. Will definitely be returning.

Went on Christmas Eve for lunch. Busy (obviously), but good service. Ordered my steak medium rare but it arrived medium/well done. Still tasty and the rest of the dish was well cooked and presented.

We came for dinner after being at Uttoxeter Ladies Day and it really was a lovely end to a lovely day. \n\nStarters, mains, puddings & drinks for 4 people for less than £150 is a bargain considering the standard of food and service we received. Freya P served us on the patio and was brilliant from start to finish - friendly & super diligent when it came to any possible allergies in the group. \n\nWe?ll be back soon hopefully x

Pros - love the environment and sitting in the bar having a drink and ordering food - we have had many good experiences of Paragon Pubs \n\nCons Lack of consistency\nSome pubs are spot on others are not.\nSame menu in writing with different deliveries\n\nA quiet afternoon should result in the best food.\n\nOnion Rings greasy and lacked coating even after expressing our previous experience and concerns the delivery was still shocking and had to be returned.\nNo one comes to ask about food till you have finished\nPotato Terrain was a hash brown but at the Boars head its a Potato Terraine\nChips with burger were suppose to herb and garlic but the herb and garlic was replaced by oil\nPickled cucumber was nearly a whole pickled cucumber no finesse\n\nOn a good note Jack the manager was really understanding about our concerns around consistency, and we really appreciated that. Lovely pub, unbalanced delivery of good, we remain optimistic which is why we score a 4 as Jack gave us faith.

This is a lovely place for a high end meal out. We went for a birthday celebration. The maitre de, Dave, was fab, very attentive, funny and helpful. The food was lovely but very expensive. The rump steak was chargrilled and very well cooked. The starter we felt was overpriced as we thought the sharer plate was £12.45 total not £12.45 each!! We did enjoy our meal however but would only go on special occasions.
