26th May 2023 would have been my third year staying at this hotel. I booked in October 2022. When I arrived for my stay I was told that the hotel was closed to house asylum seekers. The receptionist , a heavy-set man with shoulder-length blonde hair ( I don?t know his name, hence the description) said that an email was sent to everyone. I never received any email from the hotel. I always check my email inbox and spam folder twice every day. If the hotel sent an email, I never received it, which is a problem at their end. Had I received that email I wouldn?t have turned up at the hotel for my stay. As for that receptionist, he had a very bad attitude. I never argued with him or displayed any negative behaviour. He , however, was extremely rude and didn?t even offer an apology for the situation, just waddled off mumbling under his breath. Why is it that other companies can afford to send out a mass text message to communicate with their customers, but Britannia Hotels can?t? To be honest, it would have been my last time booking with that hotel regardless. It looks worse than ever from outside. I can only imagine what it looks like inside. A real dump. Due to their bad customer service, I had to find somewhere to stay in what had become an emergency situation as I have a serious health condition. Thankfully I found an Inn to stay at and will be staying there in future. I won?t be staying at the North Stafford Hotel ever again.

Hotel very outdated, for the most part lovely staff and made to feel very welcome. My only issue was it was late at night when I accidentally walked intonthe wrong room, one too many I think. Anyway I walked in and their he was a man cross dressing which wouldn't have bin a problem if he wasn't standing behind the reception the next morning. Inappropriate when he kept looking at me smiling. Started therapy soon after.

Called in for a coffee, not been for many years, seems rundown, staff not over interested. One guy was heard to comment I haven't got time to make tea! Seems one step away from closure in my opinion. Won't be in a rush back!!! Everywhere was run down and not that clean

This establishment drives a need for a 0 star function on Google reviews. On arrival we buzzed at the door and were told they were closed and not accepting people in despite us having a confirmed booking (and that they had turned away lots of people already today). They were not interested in seeing our booking confirmation and would not let us come in out of the cold in order to work out where we were going to spend the night now that we were stranded.Zero care or effort - customer service was awful. We saw the mixed reviews and thought it can?t be that bad but it was worse.Thank you to Travelodge for sorting us in the end - cheaper and much better service.Don?t book.

Rude and entitled Karen working as the reception manager. She kept saying that the hotel is fully booked although I had a confirmed booking. I had to insist four times before she checked my information and gave me a room. I asked for an upper floor and more quiet room and she kept yelling that the hotel is fully booked. Turned out that she gave me the noisiest room in the entire hotel. Had to come back, ask for a refund, and leave in stress.Rooms: You have to pay extra to have internet. Bad cellular reception inside the room.Walkability: The hotel is right in front of the train station.Noteworthy details: Rude and useless reception manager.

This hotel has a very nice bar area and restaurant. Yes the rooms are old mine had an uneven floor which damaged my foot during the night but its not as bad as others claim. The hotel however is now being used to hold Asylum Claimants in all its 88 rooms so no bookings can be taken.

This could be a great hotel because the building is elegant, but it is not being maintained. Rooms are acceptable and clean. Night Manager Paul is very welcoming and helpful. Would return to be looked after by him.

Reasonably priced. Room and toilet was clean. Reception was poor, the women at the desk is not interested in helping me check in at all. Hallways and other communal areas stink. If you had to buy breakfast separately it?s 11 pounds and the breakfast was ok at best the coffee was instant coffee. The breakfast is not worth more than 4 pounds in my opinion.

My 10 year old son and I had to live in this hotel due to an unfortunate private rental housing issue (bad landlord, poor and dangerous state of rented property)We were sent to a different hotel at first but it was completely horrendous and inappropriate so were relocated here and immediately, as soon as we walked through the door at around 8pm we were made to feel welcome & comfortable which was extremely important to me considering the situation we were in and the previous hotel we'd come from!We were given the key and shown to the room. The staff couldn't do enough for us!The room was lovely and clean, with all of the amenities you'd want! (All of which were absent in the first hotel we stayed in) the ensuite bathroom/shower was an impressive size ! & was again, lovely and clean! very well lit with help from the large mirror which had bulbs all around it.There's lifts that actually work! to help those who can't manage the stairs or just as a safety aspect for carrying your luggage. There's 24 hour reception assistance and there's also an in-house restaurant serving breakfast and dinner and there's a separate room which I believe serves alcohol (I didn't use this room so I'm not entirely sure)The hotel is directly opposite Stoke train station and you're in close proximity to many of the Cities towns, so it's in a really good location for 'getting around' .. the University is just around the corner, literally the next street.. and the college is also nearby! We were here for approximately 6 weeks and the service never wavered!Really happy.Rooms: Please see aboveSafety: Please see aboveFood & drinks: Please see above.. in house restaurant.

What a shame they haven't looked after this beautiful old building. Our room was basic with broken furniture and a lot of mould around the rotting windows. My husband had to fix the TV to get it working There was a problem with thick dust, even in the mattress which housed a moth infestation. There was no non slip mat for a very slippery bath and no bath mat for a tiled bathroom floor. Although advertised as dog friendly the only place for the dog to spend a penny was a rubbish strewn overgrown car park with nowhere to dispose of the poo bag.The female receptionists didn't even acknowledge me for some time whilst I stood in front of them. One was on the phone to someone, repeated her message several times before pulling a face and hanging up, the other simply ignored me. I was then forced to pay even though I said I'd already paid. This was immediately refunded. No directions offered to locate the lift or our rooms. Happily the subsequent male receptionists were both lovely. The location was central , with free car parking but would I stay again? Absolutely not as I value my health.Rooms: AwfulSafety: No consideration for safety.
