Bought somthing, had to remove from cellophane to make sure the item was a decent quality. It was not. Returned the following day. Won't allow refund? Joke of a company.

Shocking customer service. Refused refund due to item being used. The item was sealed. Member of staff broke the seal, ripped box open to get the item out. Said the item has fingerprints on so it indicates its been used, after she'd had her grubby hands all over it.
Got home spoke to argos customer services on the phone, they apologised for the store and said I'm entitled to a full refund.
Never shopping with argos longton again. I'd advise anyone to stay away, there's plenty of other places to buy goods from at cheaper prices & with decent staff.

Extremely poor and rude service especially from the manager who was not interested in my return having opened the instruction book to find item was not suitable they refused to accept the return she then just pushed item back from behind counter after opening it herself and walked off and completely ignored me i would advise you to never shop in this store unless you like rude poor service

I recently visited the Longton Argos store to return a faulty and potentially unsafe air cooler that overflowed water and caused an electric shock. I expected a straightforward return under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 instead, I was met with one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had.
The store manager, Paula Greatbatch, was shockingly unhelpful and dismissive from the outset. She spoke over me, showed no willingness to listen, and flatly refused the refund with incorrect claims that I needed to deal with the manufacturer. This is completely false Argos is legally responsible for handling faulty product returns.
What made matters worse was Paula?s hostile attitude. She handled the situation with a level of disrespect and arrogance that was both unprofessional and unsettling. Her behaviour made me feel unwelcome and unfairly judged, and I left the store feeling humiliated and incredibly frustrated.
Another customer present was so concerned by what she witnessed that she contacted Argos Customer Services herself to report the situation.
I genuinely expected better from a company like Argos. At the very least, I expected the store manager to have a basic understanding of consumer rights and to treat customers with dignity and respect neither of which happened here.
Argos needs to seriously look into this incident, review the handling of product returns at this location, and assess whether this type of customer interaction aligns with its values. As it stands, this experience has completely eroded my trust in the brand.

If you want to pick up a delivery in a few minutes go here.
Also nice staff. I was browsing through a book as a worker went to find the thing I brought and I didn't even make it halfway through the first page

An assistant at this branch of Argos told me that it was legal to sell electrical goods with European two-pin plugs on when I returned something for this reason. I was told if I had a replacement it would also have such a plug on because that's how they come. I bought the same thing from Screwfix and it has the legal British Standard plug it should have.
Selling electrical goods without a British Standard plug (or fixed converter fitted before the point of sale) is a criminal offence.
I have informed Trading Standards.

To the numpty who runs Longton Argos, your customer service is a joke. In the tail end of Storm Bert, you get all your customers to stand outside in the rain because your system is down, so you won't let anyone through the doors. Everyone could have queued inside away from any system, but no, let them get soaked and cold. Well, you've probably lost a lot of customers today who will think twice about ordering from Argos again.
