Nice little local pub.
Food was really good, menus varied from in house to on line which was strange.
I think they may struggle with big groups due to the smaller staff.
Otherwise really good experience.
I'd definitely come again and order more food.

We went for my birthday on a Sunday lunch and omg what can I say, the food was absolutely incredible and so delicious. There was plenty of it, was piping hot and all came correct. We had a mixture and each meal was correct. Had a Yorkshire filled with sausage and mash and my son was in his element, my partner had steak which cooked perfectly and then the rest had dinners which had loads of meat, potato and Yorkshire puds on it the brought out numerous veg, Gravy and we even had cauliflower cheese. The whole lot was amazing and we will be going again asap. Thanks for your pleasant staff too. Love The Hartwells x x

Glad we booked even though a tuesday as got very busy by 7pm. Staff friendly and although only one waiter serving he was quick and efficient. Cook/s kept the food coming. We saw no tables waiting long for food. Starters we had halloumi fries, breaded mushrokms and nachos, all good portions, as were the mains of katsu chicken, chicken/ bacon salad, pepperoni pizza and bacon and cheese burger. If passing would defo pop in.

My friends are carnivores and had steak & chips, fish & chips. I had the cannelloni which was lovely, served with a side salad and garlic bread.

Went for lunch just me and my wife, welcomed as soon as we entered and shown straight to our table. Service was polite and well timed, food was delivered in good order and was excellent. Will definitely be going back and would happily take friends and family and recommend to anyone.

We were travelling by narrowboat and moored beside this pub. We had booked a table earlier in our journey. Eating here was new to us. As we had time to kill I decided to check the reviews and there were a few negative ones. So we were a little concerned. What I can say was the food was delicious, hot and freshly made. I had the steak and ale pie and it was the best I have had in a long time. Good quality beef, no mysterious gristle. MOH had the belly pork and he was equally impressed particularly enjoying the crackling. We had no room for dessert.
The staff were friendly and service was good. We will certainly eat here again.

Dropped in after going to Penkridge market. Lovely spot. Pity the bar staff where not more pleasant. I ordered a pint of Abbot Ale only having to go back to get a top up as the measure was not a full pint. No appoligy from the person behind the bar. 5 star for the beer 1 star for the hospitality.
