Wonderful friendly pub, proprietors know how to intereact with customers, treat every guest as if they were one of the family. Would recommend their delicious Sunday roast. Unfortunately, they barred me. Lol.

We came here because we have travelled this beautiful canal on our boat so we decided to visit in our campervan. We went into the Boat Inn for dinner and drinks and the food is proper home cooked food, absolutely gorgeous! We had hunters chicken which was delicious, it was Thursday steak night, £29.95 for 2 steaks and a bottle of wine and it looked amazing. Such a lovely atmosphere and total credit to the owners and staff and locals of this beautiful pub. They made us feel very welcome, thankyou ????

Wouldn?t recommend one bit.. Booked a table for 6 at 2pm, everything was fine, ordered food came pretty fast. But started clearing our plates before we all finished which I thought was rude. Noticed tables had reservation at 3pm & they gave them tables away (not to the people that have clearly booked) came to 3pm & people are coming in saying they?ve got a table booked.. no tables available. they?ve clearly over booked on tables and are wondering around looking for space, completely get, but to come across to our table bearing in mind we booked this at 2pm just finished our mains they couldn?t even let our food settle & have the nerve to say our table is booked at 3pm? clearly wasn?t as you just gave that table away to the couple next to us.. Felt rush & it was so rude what they did!! Will definitely not be going back. All the manager could say was I appreciate that.. well I don?t appreciate been rushed of a table we booked for not even an hour

We each had a drink (beer and Shandy) and a burger. The burgers were delicious, with chunky fries that were cooked so they were crunchy yet fluffy. There was a lovely fresh salad also. We were very full! The pub was quaint situated alongside a canal and across a narrow bridge to a steam train station. A nice after dinner stroll to take some pictures. The staff were friendly and attentive.

We arrived to be advised that it is Steak night - not an ideal start for a vegetarian!! However, I chose the carrot and lentil burger and it was absolutely delicious. Massive onion rings and chunky chips. I was particularly impressed that the Chef queried whether I was vegetarian or vegan in order to change his cooking style. My Husband had rump steak which was massive and again he thoroughly enjoyed it. Fully recommend the Boat Inn. Thank you all.

Got food poisoning from the prawns on the jacket potato. Husband very poorly after eating them. Rang the restaurant to inform them, just said thanks for letting them know and didn?t even check we were okay.

My husband and I went for a lovely meal yesterday evening. What a lovely experience we had. The food was great, the staff amazing, the pub itself is very clean and tidy.We are on our hols, cruising a few canals and I must say, of the many places we have eaten, this is far the best. The staff made us feel so welcome, the chef ? went above and beyond xUnfortunately, 5 stars is all I can give but they deserve a whole lot more!Nettie & Alan x

Saturday evening, we had the option to eat inside or out so we opted for outside as it was a lovely evening, over looking the canal was so peaceful and quietThe food was fab, proper home cooked hearty filling food. If only I'd have had room for pudding!This was the 2nd time we'd visited and it did not disappoint.Lovely atmosphere, brilliant food, excellent value for money and friendly attentive staff.Thank you!

We'd never visited the Boat Inn before but had a lovely lunch there. It was a bit late for lunch but bless them, we had some really tasty and good looking food. The folk there running it were really friendly and helpful. We sat outside overlooking the canal, the weather was glorious, it was fab.

Stayed overnight in our campervan in their carpark.Made us and our Springer Spaniel very welcome.Food was tasty, all the staff were lovely the locals were very friendly, great atmosphere in a beautiful setting. Had a brilliant time.Would love to visit again and highly recommend it.Parking: A good carpark on the opposite side of the canal.

We visited The Boat Inn today for Sunday lunch.The staff are friendly, welcoming and efficient.Our Sunday lunches were delicious.Beef, Chicken melted in your mouth.Both meals were good portions all cooked to perfection and at a very good price..We had not visited The Boat for over 18 years but it is still a winner.Pub is nicely presented throughout.We travelled from Cheshire to reminisce and we were not disappointed.We will return!.

We dropped in here for lunch while visiting the Churnet Valley Railway. The menu choice was good and service was great. Staff very friendly. We will definitely be back next time we are in the area.

Review relates to using the car park to stay overnight in campervan... No fee but expectation is to have a meal, use the pub.We stayed last bank holiday (end of April 2023). Rang in advance and found the car park to be stoned and level - always a good start. Location next to the canal with the steam railway station and add to this a friendly welcome I'd give top marks for this.Food - booked for 7pm and lucky we did as the pub was busy. My medium steak was wonderfully cooked. My only (hopefully) constructive criticism is around vegan catering (wife is one of those vegan wierdos?). There was only one option available which wasn't to my wife's liking, but that's not to say it wasn't nice for others. A salad option for vegans would be good to offer choice. Not quite top marks for food due vegan choices offered not catering quality.4.5 out 5 ?s
