Always love the pies here, steak and ale for me, veggie one for Ellen. Pot of tea came with two very grubby looking cups, cups were replaced when I asked but disappointed they came out the kitchen like that in the first place.

A must place to stop by during the Manchester - Sheffield road trip. Very nice people, nice ambience, delicious food, and wonderful view, with professional staff, nice view, free parking ?? lot a specious outdoor setting area, and cosy place inside, pets and kids friendly, always been a good stop to do over there.

DO NOT GO TO THIS PUB, DANGEROUS OWNERS!! On Boxing Day I decided to go for a walk at langsett reservoir with my partner and puppy cocker spaniel. When we arrived it was very busy at the Yorkshire water carpark, so we did as we have done many times before and parked on the unadopted road at the side of the pub, we wasn?t in any of the ?parking spaces? if you could call them that as there were no thermoplastic markings or any signs to say it was owned privately by the pub. We parked right up against a wall not blocking anybody in or causing any customers to the pub any hindrance at all as we was well out of the way near the junction. We was then shouted at by a man who claimed to be the owner of the pub who lived in the barn next door to move our car as they were fully booked and nobody could park there expect the people who had booked and was putting cones out to stop people parking on ?his land? even though its an unadopted road and not ?owned? by anybody. We questioned him calmly about his authority to shift people off the road when no clear signs or road markings were displayed to back up what he was saying. He threatened to phone the police and block my car in so we couldn?t get out. And this point the ?owner? was getting highly frustrated so called for back up and out of the pub building came a man with his XL PITBULL dog who was easily 10stn in weight on a 10m lead and let him loose on myself and puppy. The dog was trying desperately to attack and kill my dog. I was shouting and screaming to get the dog away, he then asked if I wanted knocking out. He chased me back to my car where I managed to get inside to gather myself, I?m utterly shocked to the core. This place shouldn?t remain open to the public if they treat people in this way. All for the sake of Boxing Day profits, I come in this pub everytime I go for a walk and will not be steeping foot near it again, I will tell everybody about this. It?s disgusting.

Old pub, friendly, helpful staff and excellent pies (we both went for steak and ale). Would definitely stop by again if in the area, the beer garden looked nice for when the good weather comes around. Langsett Resevoir round the corner is definitely worth a visit too.

Just been for the famous meat and potato pie. Mistakenly chose the large one as I love it. It defeated me. I shall choose the smaller one on my next visit!

Terrible food paid £14 for a Sunday dinner hard veg tiny portions and watery gravy Kids had different food which was nice drinks very expensive. Nice and friendly staff

We got a very friendly welcome, the food was all fresh and homemade, the pies particularly were a hit with everyone. Portion sizes are Yorkshire, but no-one was complaining about that!

Fabulous lunch menu, home made pie was delicious, have an allergy so felt comfortable eating here once I explained my allergy, staff excellent polite attentive, not overpowering. Will be visiting again ?
