I was on vacation in the UK and decided to come here for dinner - the place looked atmospheric and the menu with an emphasis on local products interested me. Overall, the experience was pleasant, but not perfect. The interior is very cozy, and I especially like the idea of having a pre-dinner drink in a separate room - it adds a sense of leisurelyness and specialness. Some dishes were really memorable: the desserts were very original, especially the ice cream with honey crumbs and blackberry parfait. The wine was tasteful. But perhaps something went wrong that night - a few small things (a little long wait between courses, one of the dishes seemed not quite balanced), and the impression was a little mixed. It's not critical, but you expect complete coherence from an establishment of this level. Despite this, the staff was very friendly and attentive, and I'm still glad I visited this place. I hope that the next time I'm on vacation in the UK again, I'll be able to visit again and experience this place in the best possible light.

Had an absolutely amazing time here celebrating my partner's birthday. Staff were very friendly and helpful, food was very interesting and with a good range, the building and chosen decor were lovely, and I much appreciated the wine guru (I'm afraid I didn't take his name, but very much a kindred spirit I feel, as well as being very approachable and amenable - some wine buffs come across as snobbish/arrogant in my experience, but not here! Knowledgable, competent...I'm left rather envious of his job ?). Very grateful for the lovely evening.

Had the most beautiful meal with family here for my special birthday! Everything was wonderful - would highly recommend for a very special occasion-The food and wines were exquisite!

Went as a treat, that?s exactly what it was. Absolutely first class service and the food was incredible. I cannot wrap my head around how they make simple things taste so good! The wine flight was sublime too. I would recommend the old vic to anyone, a truly exceptional experience

I went to a friend's wedding there. It was a small venue but very beautiful. The service was excellent and the food was stunning and cooked to perfection. Lovely.

Opted for the prestige menu with wine pairing which was an amazing experience. Food, wine and service exceptional. Great for that special occassion!Went back again this weekend and everything was exceptional again. Love this place!

I visited The Old Vicarage wondering why they didn't have a Michelin star anymore. Much of my review is based on this.I felt the service was okay, it's better than your average restaurant. I think they hire people from the local college. This is fine but obviously they lack the polish!I also asked the main server a few questions and the answers were a 100% rehearsed.The food was amazing, it was all really delicious. One of the best meals I've ever had. I would definitely recommend getting the wine pairing!The sommelier was very knowledgeable and chatty. He was very happy to share all his knowledge about the different wines and his journey on becoming a sommelier.I'm not sure why they don't have the Michelin star anymore, I think it could be cos of the service but maybe the menu isn't very innovative. Although it is insanely delicious!!!!

We visited the old vicarage for a birthday treat. We found the menu to be very restrictive. We chose the 7 course tasting menu. We were told this was a taste journey only to find it was a salt fest. We left before the 7th course the 6th course just about finished us off. Even the yogurt sorbet was salted, when we asked for the wine list they brought an iPad to look at and then said it wasn?t up to date all in all not a nice experience.
