Today 31/07/25 Chris behind the kiosk what a man- the most helpful joyful worker there is at Penistone Tesco. I?ve always thought he was a happy& helpful, but today he absolutely deserves a five star review! Such a credit to the store!!

No Management! Attended this premises on Monday 16th June for the Big Shop only to have to queue for 25 minutes as they only had 1 normal till open with one member of staff having to serve 15+ people , 2 more members of staff were watching the self serve tills but were un willing to help the queue as 'its not my job ' , when asked to speak to a manager we got the duty manager who was unable to help either as she doesn't do the rota ! And also unable to manage a till to help with the backlog of queuing customers, also received back chat from the lady on self checkout when asked to open another till to help ...
They also don't seen to have any security as children are allowed to leave bikes in the entrance area blocking access ! Fire risk !! Then the kids run around the isles causing mischief.

Good supermarket, nicely laid out and a good range of products, carpark is well laid out but can get full and some of the spaces are tight for bigger cars

There was one guy serving called Harry, quite a lot of customers wanting to use the checkout and not self service, including me because I had cash. There were about 4 members of staff wandering around aimlessly whilst Harry served the lot of us. Just open one more til guys ffs.

Normally good, but today had "fresh" custard donut still with ice in the middle. If they are freezing things and selling them as fresh that's a problem.

This Tesco is the weirdest Tesco I've ever had the misfortune of visiting.Ironically, it's not the staff who are the problem, but the customers.Blocking up aisles chatting about their own lives, standing behind folk like statues until you move instead of just saying "excuse me", colliding with their hand baskets and not even apologising.Every other store in Yorkshire is a joy to shop at. Just avoid here if you expect respect from other customers.

Big sign next to Kit Kat 9 pack milk £1.50, charged £2.00. Got 50p refund at customer services but how many customers have been/are being overcharged ? More profit for Tesco's. No apology no promise to change signage/price. The management of Tesco's Penistone is poor at best
