You'd need to shop in here to really appreciate the atmosphere. Mostly self scan service . One depressed looking staff member behind plastic anti social plastic barrier counter. Everyone milling around line lost ants. Resident begging persons sitting on a damp blanket outside the door. Just great.

I?ve been a regular customer at Sainsbury?s in Crookes for over two years now, living nearby on Heavygate Road. Despite its convenience, I feel compelled to finally share my ongoing frustrations with this store. This review is not based on a single bad experience. it?s the result of consistent poor treatment and disappointing service over a long period.
Unlike the Walkley Sainsbury?s, where staff are consistently friendly, helpful, and welcoming, the Crookes branch feels cold and uninviting. There?s a noticeable lack of basic customer service here. Smiles are rare, staff interactions are curt at best, and in some cases, borderline rude. On multiple occasions I?ve been made to feel like an inconvenience rather than a customer. Simple questions are met with eye rolls, dismissive tones, or outright indifference.
It's not just a bad day or a one-off issue. This kind of attitude seems baked into the culture at this store. Whether it?s the checkout staff, the self-checkout supervisors, or even those stocking the shelves, there?s a clear lack of courtesy and professionalism. It?s surprising, considering this is a well-established chain known for quality service elsewhere.
In stark contrast, the Walkley branch sets a great example. The atmosphere there is far more positive, the staff are always polite and accommodating, and you genuinely feel like your custom is appreciated. I now go out of my way to shop there when I can, even though Crookes is closer.
If anyone from Sainsbury?s management reads this, I urge you to investigate. If necessary, I?m willing to provide specific details and dates to back up my claims. It?s time someone took responsibility for this the poor service standards at this location. Your customers deserve better

Self check out is sooo slow when you pay with cash and we got places to be and always eying down people because they think they are going to steel at least be more discreet

Sick and tired of there not being a person on the tills. Waited ages to be served. I pay cash and do no want to use a till to scan my shopping. Do something about it. No customer service. No smiles. if you don't want to smile and give any kind of customer service then stay at home.
People over machines!

I've been using this store for the past 10 years since I moved into Crookes and much preferred it to the Coop next door, which I found dark, dingy, cold and character less.
I've always enjoyed shopping here, mainly due too to the lovely friendly staff.
But my opinions have been revised by a couple of the evening shift girls working there. I find both rude, condescending, unfriendly and bad mannered.
I have frequently witnessed 1 of the 2 speaking to elderly customers in an almost confrontation manner.
Sainsbury's Crookes, sort out your staff!!

The new layout makes no sense, and items that were great, are now missing. The staff are shocking. Every time you shop here you have to go and find a staff member to serve you, and even then, they look at you like you're inconveniencing them, tell you they'll come in a minute, then walk extremely slowly to the till with the attitude that it's all a big effort. They all spend their entire shifts chatting to each other through the walkie talkies which is extremely unprofessional, especially when they're serving you. I'm not one to complain and I don't expect staff to be perfect, but this is by far the worst I've come across. The difference between the staff and service here and the co-op next door is night and day. The manager needs to get a grip and do some staff training. P.s. Why do you only sell brown broccoli!?

Appalling attitude from the majority of the staff, never anyone on the tills to serve you after a good 5 minutes wait for someone to serve me and a couple of staff observed me waiting just totally ignored me I went in search of someone else. Asked for some assistance at the till. Appalling attitude from some young lass with a stud on her face. Yea be with you in a few minutes, same excellent service at the till bloody ignorant.

I went in to specifically to purchase something on offer to be told that the offer I went for was only sainsburys supermarket, not there. Nothing on the offer suggested i could not buy what I needed to, so I left.

Stood nearly 5 mins at the couner.. to check out as I wanted a bottle of vodka .The guy filling the shelves looked at me twice but didn't bother to come over ,his colleague eventually came over and claimed she didn't see me due to how the reduce stand was in the way ..Yes it was and I understand that ...Not good form .....

Rude and unhelpful assistant (blonde-ish, European accent?), blames customers for self service machines not working correctly ('you have too many items' - the problem started with the second item / 'it's because you put the bag on afterwards' - I put the bag on first, etc etc). Embatrassing in front of other customers. When it went wrong fourth time (wouldn't scan a reduced item, which was the issue all along), refused to help at all. Gave up and went to co-op instead.

Awful experience today!
Usually shop here in afternoon time and the staffs are friendly, especially the security staff in the front of the door. This morning, I went to collect my online order and wait at the till. The lady with impatient face told that I needed to wait at the door at the back of the store but not here. After that, I paid for a wine and got the same lady to approve at the self-service till. While my e-giftcard is not working, she just rolled her eyes in front of me and requested me not using the giftcard and paid by other means. I didn't suppose to be blamed by using giftcard to pay and this is the system fault of the store but not the customer.

No staff to be found ever. Often have to walk around the shop to find someone if I need assistance. Chatting on the mikes often to each other and ignoring customers. When they appear they do not speak or look at you? Terrible culture. Clearly do not want to be there.
