Amazing tea rooms, been here several times and cannot fault it. Fantastic afternoon tea, lovely friendly staff. Couldn't ask for more but the cake is my absolute favourite.

Jameson's is located on a cool part of Abbeydale road, surrounded by reclamation shops, delis and quirky little gift shops. After having a good mooch around these, we arrived at Jameson's, which greets you with a suitably old fashioned look and feel. Staff are smart- male staff wear bow ties (but not necessarily black or white), there is a huge selection of cakes on the counter and it really looks like a 'proper' tea room if you know what I mean. We had an afternoon tea- they have a few varieties but all based around sandwiches, scones and cake. The traditional version allows you to choose only one sandwich filling but the others provide four, plus other additions. I had the traditional, plus a mini bottle of prosecco and my sister had the Splendid, which had a range of sandwiches (cucumber and Brie, prawn, ham and mustard and something else). It was presented beautifully and I loved the mismatched crockery. You get four finger sandwiches, one large scone with jam and cream (or curd with the Splendid)- we could choose from plain, fruit or chocolate orange, and you can choose your cake from the selection on the counter. These are generally sponges and loaf type cakes rather than dainties. The tea selection was great and additionally there are several kinds of champagne and prosecco on the menu, but only served by the bottle (!). There are three mini 20cl proseccos if you just want a glass. As usual after the scone I couldn't actually manage any of my raspberry and white chocolate Victoria sponge, but it was packaged up for us to take home. Staff were very friendly, attentive and helpful, food was great and the menu seemed good value- the most expensive afternoon tea is £80 for two but includes a whole bottle of their £50 Pol Roget Champagne plus all the best cakes and sandwiches. Maybe another time... Jameson's is well set up for small children with wipes and other useful things in the loo (which has a changing mat), plus several high chairs tucked around the corner.

We were initially planning to visit Forge Bakehouse after some great reviews, but the look of this place from the outside was enough to get us intrigued. Gorgeous tearoom in the antique quarter. The service is great, the food delicious (wish I'd taken a photo of the army of cakes they had on offer...!) and all of the pretty crockery is just beyond adorable. We even had someone playing piano live in the front room! Would highly recommend to anyone in the area! We split one traditional afternoon tea and one sandwich between two, which meant that we could try the cakes but without having too much of a sugar rush. Would recommend that unless you're super super hungry!

Having only opened 5 weeks ago, Jameson's Tea Room was the perfect venue for my brother's wedding reception. A group of 38 of us headed to the quaint, vintage style tea rooms for a small gathering and were welcomed with friendly smiles from the lovely staff. Sarah, the owner of the tea rooms, was on the ball as we arrived in a fairly disorganised fashion. They took charge bringing out pots of tea and making sure everyone had enough cakes and sandwiches to eat. The food. Oh the food. Delicately placed on tiered cake stands were small sandwiches and scones that we helped ourselves to. The sandwiches could do with some better bread, but the scones were some of the best I have had in England. Jam and cream were served in tea cups (my cousin ate the cream straight from the cup with a tea spoon) and there was plenty to go around. The tea pots were regularly replenished and guests with gluten/dairy intolerances were catered for. We were then able to choose from a range of 8 or so large cakes, beautifully displayed on a table at the front. It was hard to choose but I went for the carrot cake and received a healthy slab that was moist, flavoursome and not too sweet. Many tea shops go overboard on the cream frosting but the balance was perfect on this beast of a cake. Really, really good. Support a new local foodie heaven on Abbeydale Road - seriously good cake made by seriously lovely ladies.
