Visited the woodman on Sunday evening for Mother?s Day. Bought drinks and sat down to decide what we wanted to eat, only to be told that they were no longer serving food at 6pm in the evening, even though there were several tables around us still being served food at the time. We were told that those orders were from the Mother?s Day lunch, apparently you can only take your mother out for a meal for Mother?s Day if you take her out at lunch time. One couple who had been to the Mother?s Day lunch were told they couldn?t order dessert, even though they?d been there all afternoon. There were also several other tables (around 20 people) that wanted to purchase food that were told the same. There was no warning on Facebook or on the door stating they were no longer serving food past a certain time, this meant that by the time we were told, we?d already had a drink so we couldn?t then hop in the car and go somewhere else. Ruined Mother?s Day for us and we ended up leaving after the one drink and grabbing a takeaway on the way home.

Called today for Mother?s Day lunch, booked in for 2.30, to be told +45 min wait, the Sunday roast came out it was looked terrible, the turkey was cardboard dry, the stuffing was like a solid rock, dried out mash, didn?t look very presentable at all, a flat clock cold yorkie, and the gravy was a mass of lumps, complained, left it and the lady took it away, told them I wasn?t paying g for it, as it was the worst Sunday lunch I?ve ever come across.

I never expect much from these places as there's only so much you can do with a microwave and a boiled bag, so I opted for the mixed grill expecting at least a freshly fried egg.
2 Sausages: One looked almost cremated the other barely cooked.
Chicken: Looked like a dry poached egg and greyish in colour.
Steak: Like rubber.
Gammon: Edible.
Chips: Tasteless and hollow.
Peas: Like bullets.
Egg: Freshly fried egg - with a solid yolk.
All in all the worst pub meal I've ever had.

Really enjoy coming here. Lovely staff, lovely environment. However, I do feel there could be more investment in the pub.
