We attended an animal care workshop with our Cub Scout pack. The two members of staff were really patient with our Cubs, explained what was going to happen, talked about animal care, asked the Cubs questions about their knowledge. We also got to pet some animals. The staff were careful to make sure the animals were happy and comfortable. The Cubs also got to feed the fish. This was a great workshop for us to help us work towards our animal carer badge.

It's OK if you have small dogs .it need to do more for bigger dogs and also need to do bulk buys.

Me and my partner bought our first rabbit from here. It was an exciting time for us as we had prepared for weeks. Though, when we were going through with the purchase, I advised that we had a cage from PAH that said online suitable for guinea pigs and rabbits. The two lady staff members were adamant that a rabbit could not be homed in one. It's a bit contradictory to say it is in black and bold on the website. I hold a grudge walking into this store now.

Bought all the stuff for my pets from there. Good range of products. On one occasion I did witness a family being refused a sale of a rabbit. The little boy was in tears. I told them to go elsewhere to purchase one. I hope the little boy got one.

Some of the shelves a bit empty, reducing choice, but generally a good store layout and friendly staff.

Never seems to have much on the shelves for various flea treatments or shampoos except trendy and novelty junk. Struggled to find any flea shampoo for my dog and had to go elsewhere. The range of dog meat is also very limited to trendy and overpriced brands.

This store's longevity on the Retail Park speaks for itself I suppose. That aside I rate 4 stars, over the years I have only purchased from there as a last resort/reliable stockist of varying domestic pet essentials and products for pet care. The prices, have always seemed quite high be for aquatics, cats/dogs, ferrets and garden wildlife and avians. A 2kg bag of kibble, or complete dog food for example would easily be priced £2 and more extra to what a small pet store or supermarket may retail it for. Quality, and for me the idleness in me winning does warrant 4 stars as rare to come away empty handed, or not obtained what I wanted as they have lots of options and sizing categories for most products. So it's debatable if the convenience is worth the extra cost, like most of us I have no cash to spend frivolously no matter how pretty the packaging or shop appearance is!FYI on numerous metal racks that house the dog collars/leads, these were all slotted via the plastic product tag which easily unhooks (as let's face it the first collar is never the size you are looking for is it....) but what was a little frustrating if not just strange, was that for 5 different styles of 2 manufacturers, only 1 collar was displayed and this differed from size I needed or collar properties like double o rings etc, so imagine how easy it was to take said liked product to a staff member to ask for the measurements needed? Not so simple when these were TIE-WRAPPED with the plastic cable that cannot be loosened not by me anyway, thru the collar hook, thru the plastic product tag and thru one arm of the metal racks......WHY??? being no criminal mastermind or shoplifter don't qualify argument as I don't even carry nail scissors, in fact it's usually my card or cash in one hand and the car keys and my two devils (sorry darling infant childrens) sticky fingers in the other, even though I am female, I am! Finally chased down 3rd staff person I politely requested help from as other two were engaged in selling guinea rats to doe eyed folks, or maybe it was hamsters or mini pigs idk. She inspected the tethered collar much to the delightful noise of my children giggling and repeatedly squeezing a rubber pig that was intended for a dog toy but entertained them so much they wanted me to buy it....hhmm and swiftly she returned with a Stanley knife arm wrestling through the sea of loose collars to reach the very back one held precariously by my son's index finger and bonza it was satisfactory, not quite the type we needed but hey no wonder they hike up their prices on the last remaining product, impossible to move after advertising rest of stock range easily stolen if someone is of that intention. Leave your Pets at Home people. ???
