Pleasant staff, that's the good news, room disgusting, black mould in bathroom ceiling, paint peeling off the ceiling as well, rusty towel rails, rusty plug hole in the bathroom, grimy bath tub. Crap heating system with cheap old electric heater in the corner, good night sleep guarantee I BEG TO DIFFER. 3 nights of hell and bad back bad neck . AVOID. Food basic and not very nice clearly cheap pre made reheated slop.

Due to issues with our car, we were unable to make it to the hotel and had to turn back home. We tried to rearrange the stay, but were having Internet issues, and with the customer services not open on Saturdays and the hotel staff not answering the phone, we were unable to do so.
I emailed customer services only to be told that there was nothing that could be done as the hotel stated that we had "checked in and out", which is impossible as we never made it to the hotel.
So who checked us in?
Complaint has been raised, but beware in case you find yourself in a similar situation.

Good premise inn quiet the one night we stopped

Not a bad location for getting to various places. Unfortunately the room we had was directly next to the staircase. Very noisy with lots of very inconsiderate guests stomping up the stairs shouting at 1.00 AM. Had better meals and service at a Brewers Fayre. The barman needs a lot more training.
Rooms: The bathroom fan didn't work, the room was very noisy in its location. Clump of hair left in the shower bath plug hole.

Nice room with a bath and a large screen tv.
Staff were also very friendly

Very friendly and helpful staff. One of our party needs gluten free and this was no problem.

It's a premier inn, it does what you expect, somewhere clean and dry to sleep and a decent enough shower for the night before/morning after
Walkability: Located on a busy road, McDonald's and petrol station just opposite

Premier Inn (the company not the staff) have treat us with absolutely and utter contempt placing our health at risk and putting profit above all by placing us in a room which had recently flooded.
On checking in to the hotel the member of staff at reception reported to us that there had previously been a problem with our room (room 31) in that the room had previously been flooded and it still smelt following the flood but assured us the room was clean and safe to inhabit.
On entering the room the smell was worse than I expected and was overpowering, it was uncomfortable to stay in the room due to the smell, however after complaining to the reception and making the staff member aware of my wifes asthma which was aggravated by the conditions in the room, we were told there were no other rooms available and thus we had no choice but to stick it out as we had no other options available, nor could we receive a refund.
Through the night the smell was so acrid I could actually feel it at the back of my throat and after a terrible night of broken sleep I arose the next day with a headache (I attribute this to the overpowering and acrid smell).
Our stay at this hotel in Room 31 was absolutely unacceptable, to put a family in a room with a known problem (for a full fee I might add) just shows absolute and utter contempt for the customer and falls way below the standards I accept from the company. Its utterly disgusting that Premier Inn are willing to risk the health of customers by still using the room in its current state all in the name of profit. I would seriously ask whether the Director or higher level management would stay in this room with thier families. I very much doubt it!

Rooms: Nice basic room. I wish the soundproofing was better (noise from upstairs room), but it had a nice bathroom, and the attached restaurant is nice. Breakfast must be booked the day before otherwise you will probably be turned away.
Nearby activities: We visited nearby Worsbrough Mill and Elsecar Heritage Centre, both very nearby, and we enjoyed both.

Brilliant hotel. Room was spotless and very comfortable especially the bed. Best nights sleep I had in ages. The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble especially a guy named Paul. Very good location. Will definitely stay here again

Too hot 26 c, no aircon working in whole hotel, even though its in the room, unable to open window more than 3 inches to let air circulate, ineffective small fan provided, no sleep whatsoever because of this stifling heat, won't return because of this. Room and bed comfy ,tv unable to turn up ,so not really able to hear it properly. No mini fridge so unable to cool down with a cold drink .Food in pub attached is fairly good and reasonably priced. Grounds nice, peacocks are entertaining and lovely to look at, Humber bridge can be seen very close by.
