If you don't scan your receipt on the way out they will fine you £90, even if you don't exceed the time limit and are a legitimate customer.
Don't shop here if you are forgetful, or if you disagree with this awful practice.

Very Disappointing Experience at Lidl Barnsley
This morning (16th July), I had a very bad experience at the Lidl supermarket in Barnsley. Unfortunately, this is not the first time I?ve faced a similar issue.
I purchased an item worth £1.49 and inserted two £1 coins into the self-checkout machine. However, the machine still asked me to insert an additional 29p. I immediately called an assistant and explained the problem.
The assistant called a lady to check the machine. She opened it and showed me one £1 coin and four 5p coins, claiming that this was the money I had inserted. She spoke to me very harshly. I was 100% sure I had put in two £1 coins.
I requested that they check the security cameras, but they refused. The lady was extremely rude and even said, ?Don?t come again to this shop.? I was shocked?what did I do wrong to be treated like that? I didn?t take anything from the shop. I only complained about the faulty machine, especially because this is the second time I?ve had such an issue with their machines.I was not arguing over the £1?I only wanted them to check the machine to avoid this happening again to anyone else.My advice to other customers: If you are paying by cash at Lidl, please be very careful.I hope Lidl takes this feedback seriously and improves both their machines and their customer service.

I wanted a cashier to serve me so stood in the line, while there the cashier said I could go to self service said I did not want to I'd wait as I was next, till still open at this point. If I had moved I would have been 6 or 7th in queue, she insisted I go to self service, so I left my purchases in store and walked away, owing never to return. Never seen this assistant before as the others are normally obliging. They don't understand older customers need to feel wanted.

Terrible store and staff. You stand in line like an idiot because no one is working, you wait for people to scan their products themselves at a single scanning point because the rest are frequently closed. Arrogant and insensitive staff who are not respectful of customers. At no other store do you have to stand in line because other stores have working staff. Terrible store and arrogant staff.

Lidl does what it says on the tin. Fresh produce is always good quality. Not so keen on the self service situation, I go to Lidl to shop not to work! I always go to the lovely lady on the checkouts. She's been there years and has great customer service skills whilst dispatching my grocery shopping efficiently.

I have been there once last month as sat in car n my friend in thier homebargain and lidl both stores guess what got a parking fine for £90 .shocked as i donot live in the area and sign does say customer parking was giving favour to friend who asked me to stop there cz she wantd to get some bits .scam

Smelt really good, could smell the bakery section as soon as I walked in store but when I got there i seen a fly walking all over the food. This store really needs to put some doors on the food so it?s not open for flies.
