Great pub and local enough for us to walk to. Owner (John) and staff are fantastic (John can often be found mingling and chatting with his customers)
The food is absolutely great and there are always great beers and ciders on tap.
We love the fact that it's roadside and you can sit outside watching the world go by while enjoying a drink and some food.

Went for carvery today and it was not good at all. I chose turkey but it was tough and hard to cut. Maybe because blunt knives were to blame! Potatoes too hard cdnt cut them . No green veg only peas. Very disappointing meal. Cauliflower cheese full of water as it had come frozen not nice. Will not go there again for a carvery. Never worth £18.00. Disgusting. Left most of it. They should have given a refund!

Went with family for a Sunday carvery, was busy but the servers were great, didn't seem phased at all. Carvery was really well cooked (roast potatoes were a little hard but no big deal) Great service, great food great staff. Couldn't wish for any more.

Wow what a lovely place ?? soon as we arrived the staff were so kind and welcoming to us and our doggies. The menu was excellent for choice, I am GF and normally find it tricky to order but not here, the range of dishes was awesome and so reasonably priced, it was absolutely delicious meal. The atmosphere was great, nice music, clean and relaxing. We'll be visiting again for sure, thank you guys ?

Had a day out with friends starting here and spending a lot of money behind the bar. On returning from Weymouth we were refused entry as we had returned using the last train?! We were not drunk or rowdy and had not been singled out, this is a rule that the landlord has in place. Very disappointing and will not spend another penny here again.

Very nice hotel and restaurant, with super lovely staff. Food was good and excellent choice, including at breakfast. Rooms comfortable and quiet, even though the property is on a noisy main road. Would return without question.

After a lovely walk around the Yeovil countryside all we wanted was the perfect burger and beside the train station that is what we found. Pen mill hotel offered a ?steak burger? that came with a choice of adding cheddar, Stilton or Camembert. It was seriously up there with one of the best burgers I?ve ever had.
For desert there was a palaver as we ordered one of their fresh cakes which was unfortunately pretty rank but the staff were very understanding and kind whilst we had to embarrass ourselves and ask for something else. We had a very delicious chocolate cheesecake- it was worth our very un-British moment.

Met some friends for an evening meal (we all had the carvery option on a Sunday).
Great service, especially with staff ensuring our dog was OK.
Definitely would return and would like to choose other dishes from the menu

My son, Rowan treated me to a meal and surprise cocktails for my birthday this weekend. The food was really good. The service was excellent. The staff are so lovely. We all had a great afternoon. Thanks everyone. I'd give you 10 stars if I could!

Excellent location?around the corner from the train station. Food was delicious. Sam, who was our waitress, was just lovely. Great banter (she didn?t know who Duran Duran was until I sang one of their songs!)
Great value for money?the 4 of us had a sandwich (which came with delicious chunky chips.)
Would highly recommended this place of your passing through that way.
