As a former local of luxborough I can thoroughly recommend the Royal Oak. The staff are great, the food amazing, the cider cold and the locals precious. Awesome.

I rarely write reviews so?The Royal Oak is the perfect country pub. High standards of service and quality food and drink. Booked meal for me and my girlfriend and had a great experience. Well trained and friendly staff. Highly recommend. Great job everyone!

We've eaten at hundreds of restaurants and have never experienced such rude and unwelcoming staff before. Guy behind the bar didn't bother to greet us when we walked in and waited in front of him, despite me saying, good evening. Eventually served us drinks but made us wait in the doorway while he made them, rather than allowing us sit at our pre-booked table. Didn't provide a children's menu, despite us having three (very well behaved) kids with us. Pub wasn't busy so after twenty minutes of waiting patiently, I went back to the bar and asked the same man if we could order, only to receive a snotty response to go and sit down. He appeared five minutes later, looked at us, then walked off again and SHUT THE DOOR TO THE EMPTY ROOM HE'D SAT US IN. Didn't understand what the problem was as we were all being quiet (kids were colouring, etc.). After a full thirty minutes of waiting we paid our drinks bill (at the bar, of course, where the same bar man was "busy" polishing glasses) and commented that we were disappointed no one had come to take our order. The same bar man didn't apologise but simply said, "well, the kitchen is busy tonight". There were about six small tables of customers and at least five bar staff. Really disappointed with our experience. We clearly weren't wanted there and came out wondering what we'd done wrong. Just a horrible experience. Next time, if you don't want outsiders in your pub, don't allow them to pre-book a table and travel thirty minutes to visit you. Disgusting.

Didn't stay there just visited the bar !! Lovely place ,welcoming staff and friendly locals. Definitely worth a visit.

Staff friendly our room slightly cluttered not much drawer space. Food very good prices reasonable. In some places paint peeling off walls. Stayed locally for a few nights and visited the pub twice as it was so good. We were a party of 6 with 2 kids and were seriously impressed by this place. The staff are wonderful, friendly and welcoming. The food is superb. Every dish we had was amazing both times we came. Very impressive, wish we had a place like this near us in Hampshire! Well done and thank you to the Royal Oak ???

Top marks for the help the bar staff were giving riders on our ultra race - refilling water bottles and pouring pints of coke as efficiently as you can imagine!
