Came here for sunday lunch with my parents. The beef roast was absolutely lovely and the desserts were fab (the fudge cake was insane!) Super friendly waitresses and everything was fast and smooth. Definitely coming back :)

This all started so well. Drove up hadn?t booked a table but were greated by a fantastic team who attended every need. Nice atmosphere, lovely beer and an interesting menu. Ordered food. Food came out, looked and tasted wonderful but the amount of meat on the plate for £17.95 was a bit of an insult. Enjoyed the meal but did complain about the portion size. The lovely waitress apologised if I felt disappointed, said sorry and I thought that was fair and well handled. Then it all went downhill. Another lady came out and defended and justified everything, told me they measure all the food weight and became very assertive and implied I was wrong. Shame. I was disappointed in the amount of meat but had enjoyed the meal. I wouldn?t normally leave a negative review but because ?my view? was handled so poorly and aggressively I thought I would let everyone know. If you are hungry the portion sizes at the Anchor are a little on the small size. The young staff are brilliant and friendly, just don?t express a negative opinion. Never mind won?t go again.

My family took me here for my birthday meal, and I just have to say it was superb. Extremely well run, with a service second to none. Nothing was too much trouble, and unlike some places you go to, the food all came out at the same time so nobody was left waiting. What a lovely place to visit.
Well done to everyone.

Really disappointed with the food.
The burger was really dry .
Macaroni cheese was disappointing with a very small portion no salad or garlic bread.
I did order the smaller portions but to have nothing with it looked poor and uninviting

THE BEST PIE EVER! Found this little gem and thought why not, we booked and stated we had 1 child, our table had an activity sheet with crayons on arrival. Staff are really friendly, I had the chicken, leek and bacon pie, son had bangers mash, peas and gravy and another had steak pie. The meat in both pies were fab! Chips were divine, gutted we were so full for a desert. However, the burgers looked proper lovely, we cannot wait to try the roast and of course a desert! Thank you

Rooms are comfortable but a little dated. Breakfast isn't worth the money, pre packed croissant, and a small bottle of orange. However saying that the food served in the evening in the pub was lovely.

Meeting up with friends we booked way in advance.
Had a notification a few days ago saying the pub was going away from the standard menu and having a burger night and to cancel if we were not ok with that.
We had no problems and continued with our get together.
The staff were good as always but I was a little disappointed that any extra dishes/sides more than just the burger you were expected to pay more ! And they were not cheap.
A little disappointing and we all agreed a bill if £60 plus to be a little expensive for 3 burgers and 3 drinks.
Don't think we will be rushing back.

Visited recently for lunch in their nice garden. Unfortunately we were left unimpressed with two of our food orders and the manor in which the staff dealt with it. Both my wife and I had Lamb on a flat bread with fries and salad, quite expensive to be honest, but when the suns out etc... Sadly both of our lamb mains, and the fries were almost cold, so for the price - not great. However, it was presented nicely and looked tasty, so we weren?t particularly concerned by this as it shouldn?t take much to fix. However, when we mentioned it to a waitress, although she did apologize and promptly take it away for us, upon the foods return we found only our fries hot... The lamb was still luke warm/cold and we were given a really poor excuse about making sure our children had their food first, and it was difficult for them to juggle the order which was why it was cold! No idea what she was talking about!? After this we didn?t bother complaining about the fact it was still cold! and we were playing catch up with our kids now, but we did mention it when we paid just so that they were aware.. But again, rather than just a quick apology to show some understanding, we heard another bizarre excuse about us switching tables to the table directly next door - which we did tell them about a minute after ordering. For the price of the food this experience was disappointing. We may try again in the future as the kids food was fine.

Came here for Sunday lunch with the family. They are very knowledgeable about allergens and had a great selection of gluten free options. The gluten free fish and chips was fabulous! And the server highly recommended the chocolate torte which was insanely good!

We came for a Roast Dinner and were lucky enough to still be able to get a Pork Roast ordering at 5.30pm. I think it is best to head here for Sunday lunch to ensure a Roast though! The food was absolutely delicious for both us and the kids.
The staff were so friendly and welcoming. Our kids got to play with little baskets of level and do some colouring - they were thoroughly entertained despite it pouring down with rain and them not being able to go on the play area.

Fabulous inn, with great food and service. Inexpensive and top notch. Great for gluten free too.
Food and drinks: Great choice of beers and ciders at very competitive prices.
