Upon visiting for some wrapping ribbon i entered a very busy shop surrounded by lovely things. grabbed some ribbon & then headed to pay.Upon paying the lady blankly stared at me for a short while. I then said I'll pay by card to which she said "you won't, it's a bit small" ..Really? you're greeting someone like that as a small business?I then actually responded with "its the modern day is it not?" to which she exclaimed how they pay per transaction. It's a £2 roll of ribbon.Do you really pay per transaction for card? still? I haven't heard that one for years, you'll need to renegotiate your contract on that one. sure its a small transaction but if it costs that much, rent a card machine from a good company and save some money!I then was allowed to pay by card thankfully, but honestly, the hassle just isn't worth it. As a local unfortunately won't support that old crone again.

This gift shop has a shabby chic feel about it. Selling seasonal gifts and cards, with a cafe situated at the rear of the premises. A must see if you are visiting this historic town.

I have used this place for years and have always found it extremely good for cards and gifts. However, with just over a week to go to Christmas I popped in to buy some cards at 4.55 on Thursday evening. I was greeted with "we're closed", no apology. I asked what time they closed and the response was 5pm unless we're quiet.I was a customer ready to make a few purchases to a small local business but they couldn't be bothered. That is such a shame. I am sure the very courteous owner would have been horrified if he had sen the way this was handled.Very unprofessional, discourteous and not even an apology. Needless to say, I'll be frequenting other stores in future.

This is a gorgeous shop with lots to covet, and beautiful high quality gifts (can be a little pricey). It would appeal to the kind of people who like National Trust goods. Gift ranges include homeware, sweets/chocolates, cuddly toys, nursery. There is a very good range of cards and gift stationery too. The displays are laid out with a discerning eye and service is very good. There is also a fabulous coffee shop at the rear, so all-in-all a most pleasant shopping experience and a lovely shop to have in this historic town.
