Booked a table late on Saturday, was very busy as the rugby was on. But the staff were great, food was very nice. Price was good too. Served hot and fresh. Good choice. If down that way again will definitely go back.

Great place for a drink and the food eas pretty good, tastes fresh and home made. The menu is basic but the food was really good. Had dinner and a drink there and it was cheap and delicious.

Popped in for lunch on the way through Porlock.Steak and Ale Pie was steaming hot and tasty.Ham, egg and chips was classic. Ham was very good.Bangers and Mash was nice, but the Sausages were deep fried and a little overcooked.They also served an excellent pint of Exmoor Ale.Price was very reasonable for our lunch and our host was very friendly.Simple good-value pub grub.Would come again.

We stopped in here for a pint while waiting to check in to our hotel and it's a great place to kick back and relax on the comfy couches. Good selection of drinks on tap. We wanted to hike over to the Porlock Weir about a mile and a half away but didn't want to haul our luggage. The nice man at the bar, Simon, offered to let us leave our luggage so we could make the trip. We appreciated it so much! Of course, it was the perfect place to have another pint after a long walk once we got back. Fantastic pub with warm, friendly service! We will come back the next time we visit the area.Food & drinks: Good selection of local ales and ciders.

We went to the Castle inn for a meal and some drinks. The staff was very kind and advised on the best combination of drinks. The food was great en very afortable. When we couldn't get a taxi back to our capmsite, the bartender didn't hestiate an brought us back to our pitch. We were amazed by this kindness. So good food, good drinks and great staff! Thanks a lot?

Great place for a drink or meal with the whole family- dog too! Good service and good food. Both adult and kids enjoyed their meals. Will return again to try the fish and chips as they looked really tasty.

The Castle is a friendly pub with rooms in the heart of Porlock. My room was in an annex behind the pub - very convenient, though with quite a number of steps. The room was very spacious and looked very fresh. In principle, it was very quiet (no road noise), but on occasion there was rumbling mechanical noise from the (chiller?) Unit downstairs, as well as the bathroom fan and voices in an adjoining room. WiFi was fine and capable, once I'd asked at the bar for the code. Breakfast was a bit brief - a choice of full English OR cereal etc. The food was fine, but having the full English I missed my fibre :). Other meals were pub staples at a good price. It's a lively pub, popular with locals and tourists by the looks of things. I would have rated 4.5* : losing half a star for the noise in the room and the basic breakfast. But I rounded up. I'd happily stay again.

Stayed here for a weekend with my wife, we had a blast with all the locals and bar staff Libby,.Harry, Rich, And owner Patsy,Breakfast was fantastic, great range of alcohol and reasonably priced too, We will definitely return to Porlock
