My son and daughter had booked in for one night on Friday 21st March. He rang the hotel that morning but was diverted to voicemail. He made a booking for dinner that night for 4. On arrival when enquiring on the dinner arrangements he was met with a shrug and feigned ignorance of any such call. As they were fully booked there was no table available. Rather than admitting to its mistake the concierge dug their heels in and maintained that no such booking had been made thus implying that my son was a liar. Rather than enjoying a birthday dinner at the hotel we were forced to look elsewhere at very short notice. Needless to say that he nor the rest of my extended family and wide circle of friends will ever patronise this establishment again.

Great location and gardens. Hotel and rooms look tired, and there is mould in bathroom, and velux windows are mouldy and do not shut. The menu is very restrictive and small portions, and some odd combinations, plus not worth it if paying full price.
Very relaxing location and near to everything.

Noteworthy details: Great staff

Afternoon tea today at the hotel. Staff were friendly, however scones and cake were shop bought, possibly a local supermarket. This element was disappointing and would deter us from returning. The hotel has a lot of potential which could be built on, however this would perhaps rely on returning customers and word of.mouth.

We stayed one night in this charming seaside hotel. The hotel is dog friendly and has good parking. It?s in walking distance to the seafront and the town but it is on a hill which is perhaps not too good for people with mobility issues. The overall makeup of the facilities and rooms are tired but clean and serviceable. Breakfast was good and plentiful.

Not the best hotel reminds me of a care home..Needs upgrading and carpets need cleaning they are very dirty..Food average not the best..The young!! waiting staff were very nice and helpful but one lady was rude and very unprofessional could hear her shouting in the kitchen..The lady who checked me in was helpful ..The spa area was not working just pool available i was not told this when booking...I would not stay again..The Hotel in paignton(the Palace) and Torquay( The headland ) in this group are wonderful ..

I DO NOT recommend the hotel if you want the room you think you have booked. We thought we had booked a large roomy space, with two large comfy highback easy chairs and a large table, comfy bathroom with a window. Superior Double, looked amazing and very roomy on the pictures. Please read captions on individual pictures added below.
HOWEVER, WE GOT a smaller room, internal shower room with no window , were we had to hold the sinstern when we flushed as it was wobbly, very small table barly big enough for two cups. The chairs were more like childrens chairs placed in the corners, one was a dining chair and the other very low to the ground. The large wooden high back chair we got from the landing space outside after asking for a larger chair. I showed the reception staff the pictures from which we choose the room, (FROM THE HOTEL WEBSITE), and was told they were generic pictures. I asked for the room we thought we had choosen and told them that was the reason we had chosen this hotel over others in Minehead. I was again told they were generic pics. I don't know if this room even exists, as I couldn't get an answer to this question , returning to the generic pictures comment.
The plus after the EXTREME dissapointment of the room, the facilities were clean, food ok, staff helpful, facilities good.

The website is very misleading as it makes the rooms look nice and modern, but ours was a bit grim and dated; nothing ?deluxe? about it. The shower was nice as it had been recently renovated. No soundproofing so you can hear literally everything in the other rooms. The TV was ancient and tiny. In-room coffee is instant only and we asked for oat milk when we booked and didn?t get it. Bed was ok but the pillows were uncomfortable. The carpet looked like it had been there for 50 years and needs replacing.
Spa also needs to be upgraded - big hole in the floor of the steam room and the jacuzzi was closed (we weren?t told that at the time of booking).
One pro is that it?s a good location - easy walk to shops and restaurants and the park.

A nice traditional hotel. Our room was clean and we had a comfy bed. Shower was a bit on the small side, breakfast was decent. Loved the gardens and location.
Rooms: Clean and large...good bed. Nice bathroom but tiny shower.
Nearby activities: Great location, ample parking.
Walkability: Easy walk to the beach, shopping areas and right next to a nice park.
Food and drinks: Good food and drink.

Staying at the hotel was way above expectation seeing that the reviews are rather mixed. The real high point was the excellent four course evening meal. Top quality cooking and presentation with all the flavours well chosen and balanced. All served in a most atmospheric dining room with linen clothes and napkins and a comfortable updated lounge to relax in after. Despite the age of the furniture and fittings, the hotel was very clean and the staff coping well with the extensive redecoration and updating. Most amazing views.
Rooms: Dated furnishings but very atmospheric and interesting. Room were very clean and bed real comfy.

I went to this hotel for a swim and lunch. I was completely ignored, my choices from the menu were unavailable and the changing rooms were not very pleasant. Also no loungers by the pool, just uncomfortable garden chairs. I won't be back.

The location is excellent for exploring the town and area, the hotel is comfortable and very clean, staff are friendly and helpful. Restaurant food is very good, tasty and nicely presented. Our bedroom had a great view over the bay, Athens decor was little tired but it was clean and well equipped, beds very comfortable. All in all highly recommended.

Located in a quiet residential area. A footpath through the garden to the beach - Victorian style for time travelers
