Great Sunday roast. New owners/managers I understand. Will forgive the stressed welcome when we approached for an arrival drink. An older lady behind the bar was quite abrupt and told us in no uncertain terms to go and check in instead with a young lady at the end of the bar. How were we supposed to know? She wasn?t entertaining that we just wanted a drink first whilst others from our party arrived. Felt properly like I?d been told off!
Also not happy with the default added service charge so many now seem to just add to the bill. We normally tip well over 12% if have a good experience? but not when it?s expected. Realise you can ask to have it taken off (which we did and paid our own amount) but it?s put my father off returning. He?s old school.
So as I said tho, the food was great? just warm welcome next time might help us settle in and enjoy the moment better.

For a Motorhomer it doesn?t get much better! Loads of space, fresh water and EHU for only a fiver. Sadly, we chose the steak pie for dinner which was disappointing to say the least. However, apart from that, we enjoyed our stay and will probably return, but not for the steak pie!

We really enjoyed the food here. Delicious! Great choices of food and drink on the menu. Lots of Gluten free options. Clean facitilities. Friendly staff. Service was a little slow but appreciate it was busy. I would recommend a visit!

Fine service as it should be ,and often is not not in not so jolly old blighty
Ate in bar not restaurant all fine except burnt roll on veggy burger
Plentiful but salty mackerel on small piece of bread
Questionable quality bread
Bit shocked at 10 percent to the bill including on bar drinks .
Considering we had to order from the bar and return for ordering dessert and again for coffee
Would we return probably not
Before been inbaresed into leaving a tip probably yes
Now if passing may be consider trying elsewhere
They refunded the service charge and I left a greater amount than on the bill, completely at my discretion.
Staff heard bickering about whose tip it would be
Lovely place my companion a one time regular..
M?y objection is the service charge been added with out notification
And for minimal service ..

Just had dinner here and the smoked Haddock fish cakes were divine. My mates rack of ribs were awesome. The cider was also fantastic.

Found this place when we were visiting local National Trust properties. So glad we did. Friday evening and we hadn't booked but thought we'd give it a go. The number of cars in the carpark was a good sign of it's popularity and it was soon filling up just after 6pm. Friendly staff made us feel welcome straight away and trying the selection of ciders on tap before choosing wasn't a drama at all. Neither was the fact we'd not booked, as we were accommodated without bother. Staff were very good at explaining what was what and any tweaks to our selection wasn't a problem at all. I had a blanchebait starter ( a type of white fish in breadcrumbs) and the wife had a South African beef curry. (Plenty of choices for starter, main and dessert). Both lovely and really decent platefuls, which meant we didn't have room for anything else! Excellent value for money as well, so would recommend to anyone.

Just visited again for 3rd year running on our annual motorhome visit to British Naturism's Nudefest at nearby Thorney Lakes. Lovely Pub in fantastic location. Has recently changed hands but new owners are just as good, really positive, and very forward thinking. Will definitely be coming back 2026.

Had Steak and Guiness Pie and Ribeye Steak very tasty. Staff very friendly and helpfull. Spoken to Alan the Landlord who was extemely accomidating
