Lunch with some friends mid week.
Four of us and had a table in the front bar with the flagstone floor.
The service and food was excellent, we will be calling again on our way past.

Lovely pub atmosphere

We found a real Gem in the Somerset countryside at the Castlebrook Inn, Compton Dundon. Perfect for us to stay in our Motorhome on their lovely campsite. The pub is open every day offering good food and a wide choice of local ales. To the right of the Pub is a short access lane (a little narrow ? but plenty of clearance for our 8ft wide Autotrail Motorhome) into their huge car park and then the hidden 5 acre camping/caravanning/motorhome field behind the pub.
Cost for camping is £12.50 per night - or only £2.50 extra with an Electric Hook-Up (EHU) - Total £15. Kids and Dog friendly. Water from an outside tap on the edge of field. Free Wifi. Children?s small playpark. Toilets available during pub opening hours. The campsite is open all year round.
We arrived on a Sunday morning for just one night?s stay and booked-in to have the Sunday Carvery, with a choice of 3 meats plus all the veg ? and there was tonnes of it! (Booking essential as it?s very popular with the locals - and at only £12.95 per person it's a real bargain). There was live music in the pub on Sunday evening.
Friendly welcome from Dave (Landlord) and his team of staff (including Annie the Barmaid ? who was an absolute peach). Nothing was too much trouble and we had a lovely quiet night?s sleep at the site. We would highly recommend to all.
PLEASE NOTE: Whilst the campsite is massive, they only currently have two EHUs (Dave the Landlord says he intends to increase this availability in the near future). So if you're camping and need an EHU it?s probably best to ring ahead.

The local patrons were very welcoming to strangers which encouraged me to visit the pub again.
They say that the Sunday Buffet is the Mecca of Carvery food. My next trip will prioritize this experience.

A nice pub interior with flagstone floor and real fire.
I had chicken and bacon ciabatta which was very good.
Good sized car park and camping at the rear.
The only downside is that the range of drinks is pretty mediocre. Would be good to see some modern beers and local artisan ciders. Plenty of good local breweries and cider makers in the area

Lovely pub that looks smaller on the outside but expands out on the inside. Food was amazing and the server was rushed off her feet bless her but she had a smile on her face! Will definitely be back next time we're this way

We had a meal here with friends on a Saturday evening. We know the pub quite well as we have eaten there several times before.
The whole evening was brilliant, the food was excellent and very well cooked and presented. Then serving staff, especially Ann, were so refreshing in their manner and friendly way they dealt with us. Nothing was too much trouble and we will return before too long.
Thank you to all the Castlebrook staff.

Food wasn't great but it was a carvery buffet. Meat was great but everything else was dry.
Drinks were quite pricey
Service was polite and helpful but you had to go to them. Rather than them making sure you were happy
and dead everything you needed.
Atmosphere wasn't great bit we was put in where the bowling alley normally is.
