The Market House is the focal point of Castle Cary in the centre of the town. Dating from 1855, this Grade II listed building was extensively renovated in 2014 and now includes areas available for community and commercial events. The 'Shambles? (the original medieval meat market) inside the Market House is now a venue for productions, lectures, exhibitions, workshops, consultations, films, meetings and weddings. The ?Undercroft?, with its pillared frontage open towards the street, is a covered area for extended markets and summer social events. In front of The Undercroft is the cobbled area where the popular Tuesday street market is held, offering a wide range of local produce and goods.
