Great Pizzas, but expensive (including the wine). Our visit to the Bath Branch (Southgate) was excellent. Dropped one star because our server forgot to bring us some items we had ordered.

I visited Pizza Express with my son yesterday to celebrate his birthday. We had booked a table in advance, and upon arrival, we were seated almost immediately. Our order was also taken fairly quickly, which was a good start. We ordered one starter, two mains, and drinks. The starter and drinks arrived promptly, but then we had to wait almost 40 minutes, if not more, for our mains to be served.
While the food itself was good, the service was very disappointing. After finishing our mains, it took a while to get the waitress? attention to order desserts. I had to wave multiple times before she even noticed us. When she finally came over, she gave us the dessert menu and was about to walk away without clearing our table. I had to specifically ask her to take the empty dishes, which should have been done automatically. She never removed the empty glasses though.
We then had to wait another 10 minutes for her to return and take our dessert order, followed by another 10-minute or so wait for the desserts to arrive. When we were done, we had to wait yet again for the bill. In the end, we had to go to the till ourselves to request it, and even then, she did not give it to us immediately or acknowledge the wait in any way.
When she eventually asked if everything was okay, I mentioned the long delays, but instead of addressing the issue professionally, she responded with an attitude, saying she had done her best. Not once in our two-hour visit did she check in to see if everything was okay. If the restaurant was busy, a simple acknowledgment or apology would have been appreciated, but we were simply ignored.
This was a very disappointing experience, especially as it was a special occasion. It completely ruined the atmosphere for us. I won?t be returning, and I strongly feel that staff should be trained to provide better customer service and professionalism.

I want to thank all the Bath Pizza Express staff at South Gate. We celebrated a teenage daughter's birthday with her friends. Upon arrival the table was ready. It's hard to impress a teenager these days, but the staff are truly fabulous! They learned to roll out and season their pizza, with lots of smiles and joy, thanks to the pizza chef I can't remember the name, forgive me ;-). great attention from Kathryn's waitress who was very good, precise, very nice, thanks for everything !! Fantastic food, excellent service, the kids enjoyed. I would recommend this restaurant to celebrate the party and also to have dinner or lunch!!

Service slow. No one asked if we needed any sauces or oil etc for our food. No one checked to see if food was ok. No one seemed to be enjoying their job, no smiles or cheerfulness.

A lively busy pizza restaurant in the centre of Bath. Booking is advisable as you can be waiting for a table for a while. Service was OK considering how busy it was. A few choices for Vegan and Vegetarian diets on the menu. I have to say the food was delicious and so was the Christmas themed cocktails.. ? We had an enjoyable evening and will definitely visit again. ?
