Went in today to open a joint account and upgrade my current account. I have always been a customer of HSBC and this visit has solidified that. Hamsa and the local manager were incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, cheerful, and kind.

Excellent customer serviceI visited the branch to open a current account (July 2023). There were a few issues on my side initially as my surname has recently changed and I didn't have all of the relevant documentation on my first visit.All of the staff I spoke to were lovely. Jethro in particular was brilliant - professional, personable and very patient with my occasional ditziness with technology. Jethro explained everything very clearly and ensured I understood each stage of the process before moving on to the next. He is a credit to HSBC and to this branch.A solid 5 stars.

Just opened a joint account with my wife. The lady who helped us could not have been nicer or more helpful. She was excellent. Everything was done there and then and took far less time and effort than expected.

Terrible customer service on the 1st of October 2022. The lady who was working in the branch was rude and loud, I am a premier bank customer and have been banking with HSBC for 10+ years and am seriously considering to leave the bank and switching to somewhere else with better customer service. HSBC has to focus more on training their staff, otherwise they?re going to lose their valuable customers.

I've lived in five towns and cities including London in my 40 years adulthood, and have never come across a branch as incompetent and with such rude staff as this one. Milsom Street was very good; at Southgate they were 20 minutes late for my appointment, took an hour to work out how to process opening a regular saver account; debited the wrong amount - most definitely their error - and then implied I had actively gone in the bank and made the excess transfer. On another occasion, barged in while I was mid-transaction on the machine to proclaim the merits of online banking. They may be understaffed and insufficiently trained, but no excuse for disrespectfulness of customers and their confidentiality.UPDATED OCTOBER 2020I have to say that I've used this branch a few times over the last 6 months or so, and although I have only used the machines, and counter service once, the staff seem to have got their act together much better now, in terms of customer service. It's still a pity the Milsom Street branch closed, Southgate Street is a depressing and characterless clone of a hundred other UK shopping precincts, but can't blame the floor staff for that.
