I will always take my learner car to Halfords Autocentre (Bath) because I know the job will get done 100% and if theres a problem, i know these guys wont stop until the job is done. I personally will always recommend these guys to everyone who's looking for peace of mind.

I had a really difficult MOT situation weighing up whether to fix or scrap an old car. This was further compounded by breaking down in between the original test and the retest, revealing a new problem.
Somehow, Halfords (Bath) dug me out of a very stressful and complicated situation, fixed my car beautifully, and got it through the test for a fraction of the price I had previously feared it would be.
I can't thank and praise them highly enough, not just for their professional expertise, but for their kindness, patience, and genuine efforts to provide the best possible solutions and services.
VERY highly recommended, and in me they now have a customer for life.
Thanks Ian?who I believe is the assistant manager, and also thanks to the manager who helped me fit my wiper blades the day before the MOT.

Completely unhelpful. Charged me for a diagnostic but then said Head Office prevented them sourcing the part to fix it. Final Vehicle Health Report didn't even specify what the fault was and I have since learned from another garage that it is most improbable that the so-called fault exists or there is an easy workaround even if it does.

Rang up to see if had any last min appointments to fit me in and they managed to accommodate me. Lads were super nice and helpful. ABS was fixed by lunchtime (dropped car off around 9ish). 5 star service mostly for how helpful and nice staff were, fitting me in same day was an extra which I appreciated. Would recommend for sure.

Work done is of good quality and the staff are friendly but it is let down by them being unable to keep to booking times, slow to complete the work, failing to tell you when work is completed and general admin issues. Be prepared to leave your car for several hours even for basic jobs such as a tyre change which would take most garages 15-30mins max to complete.
I have had 4 jobs done here over a number of years - all tyre replacements or wheel alignment, all on Saturday; All of them I have told them I am waiting for them to complete the job and will walk around the block while they do the work and will return in 5 mins to collect once notified it's done.
Despite paying extra for specific start time slots, 3 out of the 4 jobs (inc the most recent one June 2025) which have been for single tyre changes have taken between 1.5h and 2h to complete (compared to a Halfords mobile van which did 3 tyres, on time and in 45 mins previously). Timestamped photo evidence sent afterwards shows work typically doesn't start for a long time after the car is left with them (50m most recently). Also often not notified the work is complete afterwards (via phone or via web tracking of job).
The wheel alignment job in Oct 2024 was however an exception and started on-time and completed swiftly and I was promptly notified it was ready for collection suggesting it can be done but there are issues with scheduling/work management at times.
I also have some concerns about admin when I wasn't expected on arrival and told I had probably booked the wrong centre for the job (Bath Road Bristol vs Bath Auto Centre) - I hadn't - and despite 5-10 mins sorting this out on arrival and chatting to the guy in the office, he then didn't recognise me when I returned 1h30m later asking 'how he could help me'. Keys were then handed over with no further questions despite not recognising me.
Overall the work is good but expect to leave the vehicle with them for some time. For simple tyre changes you can get the same work done in 20m while you wait at other garages.

Halfords Autocentre Bath provided me with an urgent next day MOT booking (on a Saturday just prior to a bank holiday weekend), and allowed my car to be with them overnight. Simon there provided me with a polite, helpful service and the fact they were open until 6pm on a Friday facilitated the whole arrangement.

Update, yet again first class service at MOT today. The staff here are the best at any Halfords branch I have ever used. Polite, courteous and cheerful. Highly recommend this branch of Halfords!
