Nice pub but a bit empty

Went in for a roast dinner, the food was pretty bad. Both the pork and beef had little taste to them. The older man behind the bar was pretty grumpy and blunt with anything he said. Atmospheres is what you would expect from a pub that looks like it hasn?t been touched in 30 years. Wasn?t allowed to sit outside which is on for a pub with a lovely garden.

The pub looked closed but was anything but and we (husband, dog, and me) were made extremely welcome and served a very decent Merlot and pint of lager followed by a delicious roast beer dinner. Good job I opted for the smaller portion!

The food is the best I've had from a pub in a very long time. Well worth a visit and the portions are proper portions. Good hearty food and a great atmosphere. 10/10
I ordered the homemade beef pie and the missus had the homemade lasagne.

Called in here for drinks on a Sunday whilst out on a walk - a welcome break and after eating sandwiches outside - nice and warm - food looked good used in February 2025 Drinks were a reasonable price

We stumbled upon this place when the M5 was backed up and Sat Nav sent us via the lanes, and we were glad we had. As per other reviews, it can look shut but once inside we had a warm welcome and lovely food to set us up for the rest of the journey. Would recommend if you find yourself intentionally or accidentally in their neck of the woods!

My girlfriend and I went for a meal there last week. We got chatting with the owner when we got there and he was extremely friendly and interesting. The food was top notch, we both had Gammon which was lovely, and the portion size was fantastic. Will definitely be returning ??

Lovely old fashioned pub with friendly staff and great food. It does look closed when approaching however there was a warm welcome inside on a cold rainy day.
