If you want slow service is it?s the perfect place to go. Whenever they are busy, they always seem to be understaffed and food is terribly slow. Pizza taking over an hour, and chips coming out 10minutes later. No apology or explanation. This has happened before. You?d expect more for an expensive restaurant

My first visit to Ego at The Grapes but certainly not my last!!
On arrival we were warmly greeted by Louise who was our server throughout lunch. She was friendly, funny and so very helpful. The food was delicious and hot.
Highly recommended
Dietary restrictions: One of the party is gluten free and he was well catered for.

Been a couple of times now and had issues with the roast dinners. It is extremely busy on Sundays so get in early if you want lamb as this sells quickly. Staff were pleasant and it?s always a busy which is a good sign, I just unfortunately didn?t have the best meal but will return

We came here on a Sunday for lunch. The person booking had requested a table in a space with enough room for 4 pushchairs and breastfeeding friendly. The table we were given was right in the middle in front of the serving pass with staff and customers walking constantly around the table. The food was poor quality and came out in dribs and drabs, we were given two portions of fries (for a table of 9) to say sorry for the wait. The pork was dry and chewy and obviously cold by time l could eat it with the full table having been served. The price of the food is extortionate for the quality and portion size. The pizzas looked good but everything else was poor and completely overpriced. The toilets were filthy with only 1 in 3 of the women's toilets actually in use, and given it was not long after 1pm and the state of the toilets, I would doubt they'd been cleaned that morning. The car park is like the face of the moon and urgently needs resurfacing.
All in all probably one of the worst pubs in Shrewsbury and I have no idea how their overall Google score is anything more than a 1. Absolutely will not be returning.

We made use of the Wednesday offer of £30 for two people to have two courses. The food was good with generous portions and a good choice of dishes. The service was friendly and prompt despite being extremely busy (thanks Louise!)

Enjoyable evening at The Grapes. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. The food was decent - see below for portion size. We ate 1 hour after arrival, but it was a Saturday evening to be fair.
They add 20% service fee to your bill which we weren't anticipating. One course worked out about £30 a head.
Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff if you fancy a nice meal out.

The menu is a little more upmarket than your usual pub off the side of an A road. Charging prices to match but on the whole the staff were friendly on arrival but service during the meal was strained, ordering of a second drink was difficult
