A lovely hotel within walking distance of Shrewsbury town centre and railway station. Two minutes walk from the Avon river walk. Good menu selection for both breakfast and dinner. Very friendly staff.
Rooms: Our room was well furnished with a very comfortable double bed. Our room overlooked Wyle Cop (road).
Walkability: About a 10 min walk to the railway station (along the Avon river walk). Ideal if you want to take the scenic mid-Wales train journey to Swansea.
Food and drinks: Good selection available. Chef willing to alter dishes to suit dietary requirements.

Location: 60/100 Shrewsbury is a beautiful city full of ups and downs with a river that runs around it, lovely medieval houses and numerous monuments. The hotel is positioned at the down edge of the centre, along a quite trafficated road and neither good nor bad view. The the car park has rather complicated access, a large car probably cannot enter.
Service: 40/100. I wrote an email to the hotel reception, asking if they could give me a reduced price if I stayed for many nights. They offered me the standard price (they would have made a better impression by admitting it right away). I still reserved a room and they gave me the worst one (at least I hope it was the worst!). Perhaps, for a customer who offered to stay for several nights a month for several months, it would have been a better idea to reserve a more decent room for him.
00. A room for kids. The twin room in which I slept with my doughter, was furnished with short beds, so short that they do not accommodate a person in its entire length (yet I am not a Watusi, and neither is my daughter). The distance of the beds from the walls did not exceed half a meter. The view right on the main road allowed us to be woken up pleasantly at six in the morning by a nice truck (perhaps a garbage truck, given that it stopped with its engines running for a good 6-7 minutes). There were no shaver sockets in the bathroom or a fridge in the room (yet the hotel advertises itself as four star!). The television was smaller than my home computer. Maybe they lowered my age by mistake and thought we were two children, giving me a room suitable for this age. There is no lift (present in much older and more fascinating hotels)
Breakfast: 25/100. Served in an uncomfortable passage room (which hotel guests pass through with their luggage to access or exit the rooms since there is no lift). Standard food, of mediocre quality and mostly pre-packaged (fake fruit juices, usual trivial fruit arranged to fill the tables and make them look more attractive), little choice.
Price: £160 for two people. This is the main problem. I spent much less (£110) in two alternative hotels where I received much more comfort, better quality of the rooms and better location, not to mention the breakfast. If they had charged me £80, it would have been an acceptable three stars hotel.

Beautifully restored boutique hotel, very convenient to the historic town of Shrewsbury, and owners Rachel and Paul are perfect hosts - highly recommended.

After our previous venue cancelled, the Lion + Pheasant came to the rescue for our baby shower! The staff were attentive whenever needed, the afternoon tea was incredible - suiting meat eaters & veggies, children & adults, plus a special GF option for my mum. The home made lemonade was out of this world. The room had been set up beautifully and our guests were so impressed. Honestly cannot recommend this venue enough! The support prior to and on the day was exceptional. You have my gratitude forever for saving our special day

I'm marking the food at dinner. Not the hotel. Food was excellent at a reasonable price. Service very good. The place is on a busy road so there could be a bit of traffic noise but overall a great place for food.

Greeted by Receptionist Holly who was very pleasant and helpful. A credit to you. Room 10 with 4 poster. Great attention to detail and everything was immaculate. Array of tea and coffee sachets in the room with plenty of milk. The breakfast was delicious and even had vegetarian option. Orange juice and coffee lovely. Lovely efficient and attentive staff. Fast service. The hotel is very cosy in every area and a bit different from the norm. We didn?t stay for lunch etc but the menu looked great. If the bedroom area had been a bit bigger I?d have given 10/10 but will say 9.5?. There were even ear plugs on the drawers. Oh and delicious butter shortbread biscuits. Lovely fresh decor, so pleasant to wake up to. The guy on night duty on reception was lovely too!

**Title: The Lion and Pheasant: A Roaring Disappointment**
Our afternoon tea at the Lion and Pheasant in Shrewsbury was an experience we won't forget anytime soon, and not for the right reasons.
We sat down with high hopes, dreaming of a perfect English afternoon tea. Alas, those dreams were dashed when we had to ask for our tea and coffee a full 20 minutes into the food service.
The savoury elements were decent ? a brief glimmer of hope in an otherwise bleak culinary landscape. But then came the cakes. They were, not the best I have had at an afternoon tea. And the scones? Let's just say I?ve seen profiteroles with more heft. In fact, the portion of cream and the little jam jar were bigger than the scones

Lovely place,
Clean, inviting, friendly and efficient staff.
Would return but felt our room a little too small for what we paid for one night.
Breakfast menu lovely and breakfast was absolutely delicious.
Because the weather was so beautiful, we ate outside which was no trouble for the staff at all and made our breakfast experience even nicer.
I all, a great place in which We would most definitely return.
Thank you all x?

Four of us booked for lunch last Friday, restaurant wasn't busy at all. Food was good but the service was very slow.
