Food and drinks: Booked for lunch on a Monday. Probably not the best day! Reception staff were not aware of what the soup of the day was, or what fish of the day was, had to go to kitchen to find out. Soup was served and was cold. It was returned with new soup and associated bread now hot. Fish of the day was plaice, which when it arrived was very poor value for money. Deserts were either a baked yoghourt or a brownie. Not the selection we would have expected.
Would not bother to go back again.

What a gem. My wife and I have just returned from our first stay at Pen y Dyffryn. It most certainly won?t be our last. Pen y Dyffryn is set in a beautiful, tranquil, rural location. I cannot find fault with anything at all during our stay. The staff were so friendly and professional, our room was modern and laid out to an exceptionally high standard. Breakfast and dinner were beautifully prepared with quality ingredients and served in a relaxed atmosphere in the dining room. In between these meals you must find room for the home made scones and raspberry jam!! A wonderful stay all round.

A beautiful family run hotel in a fantastic area, surrounded by fields and woods with a stream close by, lovely walks all over the area. The hotel is very cute and the rooms are fully equipped with everything you need. The staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble, i definitely recommend staying here and would love to return for the weekend, thankyou very much ,,..,..,.,,.,..,.,.,..

My new Husband and I came to the hotel for a one night stay in the champagne room. We were greeted by the wonderful staff at reception who let us know we could come and have complimentary tea and scones anytime up until 5pm, as well as help ourselves to fresh milk, water or brownies from the fridge at the bottom of the stairs. We were shown to our room which was immaculate, well presented and spacious. We were lucky enough to be staying in the champagne room which does have a double jaccuzzi bath which i?d recommend to everyone to try out. We were delighted to find a birthday card for my husband as well as some beautifully crafted chocolates. The bathroom was complete with towels, robes, and beautifully smelling products for washing etc. The room provided a tv with freeview channels, as well as a hair dryer and iron with small ironing board.
When we had settled into the room we headed down for our tea and scones which was delicious, we then explored the garden area and the stunning views before getting ready for our evening meal.
The evening meal was served flawlessly, the food was divine and I would highly recommend for couples to visit here if you are looking for a special meal even if you aren?t staying in the hotel. The menu was personalised for the evening specifically and it was fabulous to try foods we wouldn?t have had otherwise. The chef deserves 10/10 because it really was the best meal i?ve had.
The stay was peaceful, we felt truely relaxed and didn?t want to get out of bed the next day, this was made much easier by the thought of breakfast, so we went down just before 10 and had what was once again perfectly cooked food.
We only travelled 10 minutes to get here but i would definitely come again for longer next time. Sometimes the most beautiful settings can be right on your very doorstep.
Thankyou for a wonderful stay!

Sometimes you worry when management changes, not so here. Tommy and Caroline have been passed the baton by their parents and a fantastic job they are doing. Surrounding slightly updated and lightened, food unchanged and still fantastic, rooms (The New Valley Room and Suite are excellent) the welcome PERFECT.
Rooms: Valley Room has a great view across the valley with all of the amenities you get in the best hotels. Large screen TV, Spa Bath, Private Terrace very comfortable bed.
Food & drinks: In a word WOW. Food as good as it gets and the drinks local, organic and a wide selection. Nothing is too much trouble.

Lovely hotel great food, certainly seems to attract a more mature age group of guests, missing a few details around the place, and being a big chap I couldn't get my legs under the dinner table. But would happily recommend. Great dog friendly hotel and attentive staff
