Had a wonderful Mothers Day meal with husband Gordon, son Kev Abel and friends Mike and Pam Hitchin. It was all served by the amazing young team of staff to allow the mothers to have the day off. The place was heaving, no stress and fantastic atmosphere all afternoon. Big thank you to the young staff and hope the mothers enjoyed their day off as much as I did X

After passing this Beefeater on a regular basis we finally called in.
Unfortunately I think we just called at a bad time for them because their Grill had broken down so food choice was limited to food which didn?t need to be cooked on the grill which if I?m honest, there wasn?t much of a choice. These things happen and it was just unfortunate it was when we visited.
I?m having to base my star rating on the experience I received when visiting, hopefully if I re-visit, then I can look at giving a new star rating.
I?m also basing my rating on the food they were able to cook at the time, I had to have the fish as I only had a choice of fish or pies. The fish and chips were very good but the starter of battered mushrooms were over cooked. And then I couldn?t understand why people were still being served burgers throughout the time we were there when I was told I couldn?t have a burger due to the broken grill.
I would like to have given a better review but I think it was all circumstantial that my experience wasn?t great.

In a word.......rubbish. Went there 29.09.24 for a celebration meal. Out of 8 meals 2 or 3 were ok, the others not great at all. They had no steak sauce in the whole place. Considering this is meant to be a steak house this isn't good. A lot of the food was burnt and presented badly. The last time before today we went here was 10 years ago. Will probably be another 10 before we go back. Staff weren't interested in our grievances at all. No money off offered and no real apology. Judging by other reviews this seems to be the norm.

Very disappointed with the fish and chips as one menu didn't say haddock not cod served sent meal back plus different prices for fish and chips to be told there both the same price but showed on 1 menue dearer

Ordered a sirloin that arrived with a lot of fat and was extremely thin and scabby looking - more akin to a frying steak. Sent it back the moment it arrived and ask for a portion of chips instead (as everyone else had their food) which arrived piping hot but undercooked. Other food was subpar for the table too, but it's fairly dull to document it.
There were about 9 tables in on a Sunday at 3pm (hints were there..), including ourselves we were aware of 6 tables making complaints.
Life is too short in summary to waste time going places like this, where the head chef is a microwave :-)

Went for a meal here yesterday. Food was not cooked properly made me and husband ill afterwards. The service was terrible, no one came to ask about drinks. The person who seated us just rolled her eyes at us when we sat down. Will not be going back!!

Sadly if I could give 0 stars I would, visited yesterday, the service started positive but very quickly turned sour. Our server the ever so miserable Leah, definitely didn't want to be working. We ordered one of their burgers, for it to come with about 5 chunky chips rather than the skin on fries as stated. No attentiveness when it came to serving, constantly walking past empty glasses, without asking if we needed anything else. When we did, we asked for 2 cocktails (easy ones) and again the lovely Leah rolled her eyes and somewhat sighed. These cocktails were awful! Not at all happy, was booked to go the second day too but happily spent money somewhere else.

Excellent Beefeater restaurant, service fast and helpful, food very good. Decent vegetarian choice and very well-cooked steak.
