Conveniently located a 2 minute walk from the village centre. Not the most modern hotel but it's an ancient coaching inn so it fits the aesthetic. Very happy chatty staff. We went for the dinner, bed and breakfast package and found that the food from the fine dining menu in the restaurant was outstanding and far exceeded my expectations. Breakfast was also very nice and used local produce.

Reception staff lady was very helpful & seemed to be running the place( sadly we didn?t get her name) On arrival there?s a huge for sale board on the hotel, which sets alarm bells off. Rooms across the courtyard, courtyard looks a bit tired, scruffy & dirty lots of cigarette butts on the floor. Room was very dated & smelt of damp, the carpet was lifting from the floor. bathroom was dated & resembled a nursing home. Asked to book a table for the evening & told we are full we only have 1 chef working, so then needed to try & find a place to eat for the evening. On our return to the hotel, thought we would sit in the nicest area of the hotel a sort of conservatory with lots of light & bright sofas To our disappointment a large party with 5 dogs had decided to place all their lovely DOGS on the sofas & the whole place smelt of wet dog. I get companies need to allow pets, but to allow them on furniture is unfair to other guests. It seems the hotel is run with a skeleton staff. I think the for sale sign says it all really Sadly I don?t think we will return to this hotel.

I decided to go and re-visit Much Wenlock after a gap of many years--to find it not destroyed by too many housing estates or lorries thundering through. At lunchtime I was hungry and settled on The Raven Hotel in the main street, as it looked an interesting menu. This is in an old building which has been pleasantly udated inside, still with character and is obviously popular with locals, including "ladies who lunch"...but down-to-earth ones. I decided on just one course as I would eat later and chose sea-bream, roasted new potatoes and salad. It was nicely presented and tasted delicious, all of it! The fish was succulent and with the skin crisp (had to be eaten, surely); the potatoes had seeds, there was nicely done cabbage and a salad. I had elderflower presse to drink as I was driving. I noticed that there was a constant trotting to the shop just across an alleyway by the staff so, after paying, I had a look...to find it was Fish Thursday, when the greengrocers had a really interesting fish counter. The vegetables were mostly local and I could see why there was all the to- and- fro, to get fish or vegetables that had run out. I bought dressed crab and MEGRIM....a fish that I hadn't seen for sale for ages. How pleasant an interim to the day...I shall be going again, perhaps for two courses...and wine!

We were mere walkers passing through Much Wenlock, when the heavens opened and sought sanctuary at The Raven (they could have said no as we were not dining there). Our host was most welcoming indeed and showed us indoors to a sofa area where we enjoyed coffee and biscuits. It?s the little things like this that count and make you think, hey next time, why not call into The Raven for a meal - the experience finished off our morning walk a treat! ?

We were staying in a cottage in the village and decided to dine at The Raven on our last evening before heading home. What a delight! We chose 2 courses from the à la carte menu and can only say it was fabulous. The amuse bouche was wonderful followed by two courses of beautifully cooked and presented food. The kitchen staff are to be congratulated as, indeed, are the front of house staff. Everyone was so good at their roles. It was a meal that will be remembered by us for a long time and if we decide to come back to Much Wenlock we will definitely visit The Raven again. (Might even stay instead of doing self catering.) We started the stay with a very welcoming checkin. There is no lift in this establishment so luckily we only had overnight bags. Our room was quite adequate for a one night stay. The bed was very comfortable. We were able to able to open the window which was nice as we like fresh air and we?ve found that a lot of hotel rooms can be very stuffy without a/c or open windows. We ate breakfast and an evening meal in the restaurant and both were tasty and service was good. My main complaint would be that the lighting in the bathroom was quite dull.

This weekend we celebrated our Golden Wedding at The Raven Hotel, Much Wenlock. It exceeded our expectations in so many ways. From the initial planning meeting Noo Noo, Emma, Lee and Yvonne were so attentive to our wishes, and went out of their way to ensure everything was perfectly planned for the celebratory meal. On arrival, all our guests were given a very warm welcome and they were all delighted with the accommodation, nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The meal, overseen by Lee, was perfectly executed and we all experienced fine dining. Every member of the team went out of their way to ensure we had a wonderful evening and the excellent service continued the next morning when many guests joined us for breakfast. If you are planning a special meal, the Raven Hotel will ensure all your needs are met and we cannot recommend them too highly. The service we received from Noo Noo, Cheryl and Chloe supported by Laurence and Jack was excellent. The collaborative team spirit was in evidence throughout the weekend. A special mention to Yvonne for the beautiful flowers too. Thank you to everyone who made it a very special occasion. David and Rosanne Bartlett

We booked the day before for an Easter Sunday lunch. We have been a couple of times before and always enjoyed it but not for a while. To be honest the quality of the Sunday Lunch was astonishing, without a doubt the best I have ever had. The food just oozed good quality ingredients very competently cooked. The interior and location are top drawer too. We shall return!

We thoroughly enjoyed a three course Sunday Lunch on 2nd April. The venue, service and in particular the food was amazing. Zac the chef produced wonderful food, both in taste and presentation. We would highly recommend The Raven for a couples or family get together.
