Just spent two months as the hotel?s guest. Truly felt like a part of a family anywhere I went. David and John being just marvellous at the reception with any and every request I could have. In the restaurant Curtis and Scott took wonderful care of me. True gentlemen with the upmost level of service and thoughtfulness. Any time I?ll be back to Shetland Brae Hotel is my go to place to stay for sure.

The hotel is in a perfect location for exploring the north of the island, whilst not being very far from Lerwick. The road that connects them is beautiful and easy. The facility is very clean, the staff is always friendly, and has included an excellent bar and restaurant. The energy, courtesy and smile of the two guys, Scott and Curtis, who welcome you for breakfast is certainly one of the strong points of this hotel.Noteworthy details: they have been very kind in keeping our room in stand by the day that for a storm our flight was at risk to be cancelled.

My friend and I were on a Bus Tour with Tartan Travel. Omg our bus driver (Andy) was amazing as some of the roads are narrow as you can imaging. This is one of the best holidays, as so much history, scenery and we met some of the nicest people.Hotel was fab and all of the staff in our hotel were all very friendly, especially our favourites Scott & Curtis, these 2 guys go above and beyond for the residents and lovely souls. Nice pubs at port with nice wee shops. Well worth a visitIf you want to see Shetland go on a Bus TourOr just move house, I wish :)Rooms: Beautiful room and gorgeous shower. Everything you need in a room when you are on holiday. The ladies who looked after them are certainly hard workers as we had no complaints. Great sleep!!Safety: Felt very safe on the bus and shipsWalkability: We never walked far, narrow roads as expected as this is not a city. You could use the local bus form outside our hotelFood & drinks: No complaints, the bar was full and our belly's too :)Noteworthy details: Go by Bus Tour as you will see so much more and our tour guide was amazing.

A wonderful stay. Serendipitously tied in with accordion and fiddle festival. Comfortable rooms, great breakfast. The stand out, and seemingly recurring in these reviews, was the staff. Really wonderful staff. Curtis and Scott made us feel so welcome, as well as the breakfast chefs, reception staff and house keeping. I loved the positivity in the breakfast room, so uplifting to hear staff singing along to (great) music - especially so late in the season when everyone is (or should be) so knackered in this industry. Fantastic stay. Will stay again next time. Thank you guys so much it inspired me to be more positive at work.

Bar staff extremely polite and helpful. Food was very tasty. Great choice for breakfast so overall we were very happy with this hotel. If visiting Shetland again this would be a good choice for us, easy to find and beautiful views.

Came for Shetland Wool Week with friends, and we stayed ten days. I had a very pleasant comfortable room and bathroom, always clean and hot water always available. We had supper several times at the hotel, the food was delicious, breakfast also more than sufficient, hot chocolate in the evening, oh yess! The staff were always welcoming and helpful at every point, and most especially Curtis and Scott for whom no effort was too much to make sure that we had everything exactly as we asked for it to be - always kind, always with warmth and friendliness - and to Luna, the woofa, who also came with me. Their presence made for a really wonderful memorable stay.

The hotel itself is clean and rooms are fair, beds are comfy rooms are slightly dated.The food is actually good just the menu is slightly small but understandable.Breakfast has improved since my last visit everything was pipng hot.The two gents that serve breakfast and dinner are the stand outs. Cant speak highly enough of them!They can't do enough for you and are very attentive and very polite.If I owned a restaurant or hotel these guys are the staff i would want. 5 star service for them.Location is nice just a bit far out of town for myself but there is a local chippy, chinese, fuel and co op.

The only reason I gave the rooms a three is because the water was extremely difficult to regulate and there is only one outlet for charging across the room from the beds. I even have a ten foot cord and it would not reach. Staff was wonderful, they gave me a power strip so I could have my alarm next to me.

Not a great experience. First of all they misread my email and thought there was only one guest instead of 2, then they quoted us a price which was a lot higher (25%) than what we had read on their website.When we showed the manager this discrepancy, his reaction was to say "you're welcome to leave", without even offering a simple apology or considering it was already 8pm. I was surprised at his lack of class in dealing with the situation, and obviously this soured the experience a little. I would add that the rest of the staff were very friendly and helpful in general.Our personal recommendation is that someone else from the staff be promoted to the manager's position, as clearly the current one isn't well accustomed to the pressures of being a leader..Other than that, the hotel is nice enough with clean rooms and a tasty breakfast - hence the 3 stars.

We were warmly welcomed and all staff were cheery and polite. Our room was a good size with a well stocked refreshment tray ??Breakfast was good quality and plentiful, setting us up well for a busy day's exploration. Great location too.

The welcome was very genuine and very helpful. The room was clean and had everything you needed. My only disappointment was there was no window to open . It had a door to outside but that was kept locked even when requested to open . No air-conditioning or fresh air. I felt stifled. Some rooms did have opening windows I just felt like I was in a box. There were 2 young men serving at meal times Curtis and Scott . They were really lovely. Polite chatty and hoping one day to open their own restaurant. They were the opitomy of great hosts good luck to them. Only complaint was the evening meal . The portions were really small and it wasn't cheap .
