We called here for a takeaway. Fish was delicious and my husband loved the battered haggis. Ok portions. Chips were good as chips go, the only real let down for me was the gravy just tasted like bisto. Found it quite pricey for a takeaway chippy.

A top tip for Ullapool is that the opening hours advertised on Google are rubbish. They must apply to tourist season. I was relying on these being right to get something to eat in Ullapool in December but all the takeaways are shut and it?s just after 9pm. I don?t really blame them as the town is incredibly quiet but to show opening hours is n Google that are completely wrong is a bit rough. Going to bed hungry now.

Very small portion, not great quality, overpriced for sure. Felt like a tourist rip

We were up in Ullapool as part our road trip down the West Coast of Scotland. After pitching the tent we thought we'd head in to the town for some dinner and a few drinks to prepare us for the chilly night ahead. The first place we saw was the Seaforth and thought we'd head inside for some warmth and some grub. There was only one other table at the time, which wasn't surprising as it is out of season. We ordered a pint and some food and it came reasonably quickly. But this is where the positives ended unfortunately. The cheesy garlic bread starter was just a baguette with a mound of cheese on top and was likely bought from Tesco around the corner and fired off in the oven. The mains were not much better. My chicken burger was very dry, very bland and overall very disappointing. The fish and chips also very dry and tasteless, which is very surprising considering the same business owns the chippy next door. Despite the dry and tasteless food we had partially consumed, the hardest part to swallow was the fact that two courses each and one drink each amounted to £63. There was also a mandatory 10% gratuity. If this was peak summer period and the staff were running off their feet, I can see why this would be appropriate. It certainly was not like that on this occasion. Overall, I won't be back. The food was underwhelming, and the prices are just completely bonkers. We should've checked here first as there are plenty previous reviews that follow the same trend. Avoid.

Dropped in for quick lunch. Excellent battered fish and chips with home made mushy peas and tartare sauce produced in good time. Really good.

I have been to this take away on many occasions it really is a treat. I always have fish and chips and you get a very generous portion. They also will give you a bit of lemon and tartare sauce to complement it. I hadn't been here for a couple of years, but as far as I am concerned it is worth the trip to come to Ullapool for your fish supper from this place. How this place only gets three stars is beyond me. I would give it ten stars if I could it is so good.

My collegaue and I had dinner and a couple of drinks on our way for the ferry to Stornoway. First of all I'd like to say the staff are fantastic, very friendly and inviting, well looked after. As to the food, we had the prawn linguine and a chicken burger. The chicken burger was bland, not seasoned in any way, and served with a few chips. The linguine for £26 is embarrassing, a handful of pasta, 1 whole prawn and a few prawns from tesco, how anyone can justify this price? I don't know. The beer is fairly priced, my colleague had a cider was £7, again can buy from shops for £2.50. Overall over £60 for this meal is a disgrace. We went up the road after to the Caley which is very nice and more reasonably priced.

Last weekend we headed to Ullapool to celebrate our 15th anniversary and on Saturday night went to the Seaforth Bar for dinner. What I would like to know is how they justify the price of the meals. Before I go on my rant I do want to say that Debbie who served us was so lovely and and us feel really welcome. How can they justify £22 for the Haddock Mornay and £26 for king prawn linguine? Thats what I would like to know. The Haddock mornay was so disappointing!! There wasn't even a whole Haddock in there but there was plenty of cheese sauce and breadcrumbs!! Also... what's the deal with it coming with either salad or chips?? For £22!!! Why not some nice fresh vegetables and baby potatoes!! Jen had the Prawn Linguine which she did enjoy but it was such a small portion with 1 whole langoustine and 5 king prawns. It was a bit of a weird pasta dish and definitely not worth £26!!! That is a massive mark up! I know food prices have went up but not that much!! We had two unsatisfying meals for £50!! Thats nuts and I can't see how they can justify those prices! The best bit of the night was Debbie!! She was lovely. It certainly waste the food.

Simply the best fish and chips I've ever had in my life. No kidding. The serving was so generous, I couldn't finish it all, but what I wouldn't give to have the rest of that yummy meal sitting in front of me now, waiting to be devoured!

Food was hot but that was probably the only good point. Batter on the fish was massively over cooked and the chips were naff and tasted old. Go round the corner to Deli-ca-sea instead.

Bought a Chippy and most of it was thrown in the bin. The chips were hard in the middle obviously under cooked the battered sausage turned out to be smoked sausage asked if I could change it and was told they didn't have an alternative so I kept it but it was hard unlike the chips this was overcooked. Curry Sauce was out of a tub of knorr Ready to use and they just added water and microwaved it. My wife had Scampi and it was tasteless hardly any Prawn inside and mostly all batter. Obviously bought in cheap rubbish and charging a fortune . The lady who served us was very polite and apologetic in it wasn't for her I would make as a one.

We came to ullapool at the end of a Scottish holiday that included Glasgow Edinburgh and Aberdeen. This was the most expensive meal on our whole trip and really poor for value for money. £20 for very average fish and chips. By comparison, at the ashvale restaurant in Aberdeen we had the best fish and chips on our trip for less. £7 for a pint. By far the most drink and more expensive than even London £2 for a pint of soda. Everyone else we had a soda it was free £180 for 5 of us including drinks. We could have had much the same from the excellent chippy round the corner, and a pint at the local pub for half that price. Nor were we paying extra for "atmosphere and ambience" because there wasn't much of that either.

On holiday for a week in Inverness and decided to do run over to Ullapool for the fabled Chippie fish supper. If the only reason i went there was for fish and chips, unfortunately it would have been a wasted journey. 1st impressions, clean and tidy enough, look up at the prices and think wtf! £12.50 for a fish supper! £4 more than my local chippie, whatever, i'm on holiday in the country i live and expect to be ripped off the same as the tourists. Ordered a fish supper, pulled out my wallet and presented cash.........sorry we only accept card! Really! Upon opening the box to add salt i thought this is the strangest fish i have ever seen. It was rectangular but had a tail sticking out. Taste. The chips are undoubtedly ranked among the best chips i have tasted from any chippie, however the portion was small, 1 scoop. Now onto the fish. Batter too thick and undercooked. I honestly had a piece of batter in the middle that was 3 or 4mm thick, crisped on the outside 1mm and the rest soggy. and greasy. I could hardly find the fish for the soggy batter and ended up binning most of it. Maybe i just visited on a bad frier day. Imo don't waste your money on a fish supper if it is cooked anything like i received but definitely do buy some chips. They are lovely. as may be some of the other thingd they sell.
