My husband and I stayed here one night while traveling through the highlands. It was the one place out of our whole trip through Scotland that I had wished we had stayed longer at. We had the Alexander Suite and it was huge, gorgeous, and very charming - I travel the world and I'd put this on the top of the charming scale for any hotel I've stayed at. It was pouring rain while we were there so we had a drink in their bar area, which is a cute, old fashioned sitting room, and then had dinner in the restaurant. We both had the 7 course tasting menu - my husband had the meat version, and I had the vegan version. We both thought our meals were excellent. I would definitely go back if I'm ever in Scotland again!

Rooms and their bedding are VERY nice with good bathing and coffee/tea making facilities. Food in tasting-meny, which unfortunately is the only dining-option, is only OK compared to it being rather and in my opinion too expensive. In-door relaxing room is small but very cozy. The hosts are there and are very nice people which is a plus (but the story of Bonnie Prince Charles?s connection to the house is a little far out). Outdoor view is very nice, but the house is not as isolated as I had thought and hoped for, though in a rather remote part of beautiful Isle of Skye. A pity there are no benches to sit on and enjoy the very nice sea view. Also a pity that the adjective house with bookable rooms and its surroundings are not very nice to look at from the outside. I DON?T know if these rooms are wonderful from the inside.

Wish we had more time. The views and hidden nature of the estate were by far one of my most memorable experiences. We came in the summer where we were stuck in endless twilight. Sitting outside and listening to nature was beautiful and peaceful. The 7 course meal was well worth the cost and one of the best meals of our trip.Highly recommend the carriage house as it's an extension of the house and feels like you have your own private space.

We booked Jesse's Hideaway (cottage #6) and were blown away by how beautiful, serene, and remote it feels. If you want away from the tour groups and crowds and want a beautiful place with plenty of space to breathe, this is it! The bed was also the best we've had at any vacation rental ever. So comfy! So clean! And don't even get me started on how beautiful the view is!

We stayed for 3 nights in November and so enjoyed it! Dinner and breakfasts were excellent and a wonderful drink selection. The hotel staff was very kind, helpful and thoughtful. Can?t recommend more!

We had a chance to stay at this beautiful residence during our recent trip to Isle of Skye. It is almost impossible to describe the beauty of the area, and awesome accommodation & service we experienced here. Location, Food, Service etc. were all above expectation.

My husband booked this meal ahead, having heard this is a "must visit" restaurant. We arrived quite early for our dinner booking, and the host and hostess welcomed us, offering a beer/ soda so that we could cool off and relax after a long day of hiking. We chose the 7 course meal, and enjoyed so many aspects of fine dining. All of the traditional Scottish favorites were served - from haggis to black pudding, but also an amazing cod, on turnips and with a small piece of fried squid atop. The meal was capped off with an amazing chocolate torte with a molten chocolate center. We ended the meal with coffee and house-made chocolate. Overall, an amazing experience in fine dining. While the meal was quite pricey, we enjoyed relaxing in an uncrowded, quiet atmosphere after a long day of hiking and dodging sheep on Isle of Skye. I would caution this is not a "family dining" experience - the food and service are geared for adults who are seeking a quiet, peaceful respite from daily life.

This was a planned treat. We had high expectations and we?re not disappointed. Location exceptional for sunsets & far reaching views. Restaurant is exceptional with 5 or 7 course taster menus. If you are looking for a special experience ~ this is it! We fell in love with the interior furnishings and attention to detail is beyond compare. Luxurious bed and bedding.

We stayed in the Alexander room and had probably the best hotel experience we have ever had. We were amazed at the size of the room and the beauty of It. Pretty view of the coast was just a short walk away. The hotel restaurant was nothing short of amazing. I highly recommend getting dinner here while you stay. The staff was amazing and were happy to help (the owner even gave us a ride to the bus stop). The only downside was the remote location, but I suppose that is a personal issue. There are pros and cons of It being remote. I will be referring any friends who travel to Skye to this hotel. Excellent!!!!

Our group of 7 stayed at Monkstadt 1745 and were blown away at how remarkable the property is; the bespoke renovation of this historic house was done with a deft design hand and send of humor. Images of Flora MacDonald is cleverly tucked into the shower tiles, wallpaper and saucers to remind you of her history here. The setting is idyllic, near the end of the Trotternish peninsula, close to the Duntulm Castle ruins and surrounded by sheep and rolling green pastures. The food is exceptional - we all decided that henceforth oatmeal must always be served with a wee dram! And the 5-course dinner was phenomenal but not over the top. If you are looking for something out of the ordinary and extremely memorable I highly recommend Monkstadt House!

We ate here in spring 2023, and it was absolutely delicious. The food is well presented, the dishes offer a great value, there are many details which are paid attention to. The service is attentive. We enjoyed our evening here.

I am way overdue in recommending the Monkstadt as we stayed there last October, but was just thinking about it and wanted to share how much we loved it. A beautiful property. We loved our room (the Sir MacDonald Suite)?great furnishings, roomy, and lovely products in the bathroom (always important!). All the meals were fantastic, as were our servers. We found it to be a great location as a launch point for exploring that side of Skye (this was our first visit). We have already glowingly recommended this property to friends (who will be staying there in June). We hope to be back in Skye some day and wouldn?t hesitate to stay here again.

Monkstadt is such a hidden gem - a truly luxurious, well thought out and relaxing haven. We love it so much we are getting married here in a few months! This is our second stay at Monkstadt. The first time we stayed in the Alexander Suite as a couple (it is truly stunning!) and this time we stayed in No 9. Pretender's Escape with our wee boy who is 11 months. The surroundings are beautiful, as is the food at both breakfast and dinner. The staff are really friendly and Ella has been so accommodating in helping us plan our upcoming wedding at Monkstadt. We can't wait to return here and leave as Mr & Mrs!
