We have just visited 'Borgue Hotel' for evening meal (following a recommendation from Grace and Kevin @ Seaward caravan park). Really wish we had visited earlier in our holiday - just so we could have returned for another meal. It really was a beautiful meal in very friendly and traditional surroundings. Martin and his wife are doing a fantastic job. We enjoyed every bit of our meals (steak pie and chips and beef curry and to finish - biscoff cheesecake with locally sourced ice cream). I would highly recommend to anyone visiting the area - make sure you arrive early - start serving food 5.30pm, sure you won't be disappointed. Such a nice little find, thanks to the best hosts. Cheers Sheila and Shane from 'Lancashire'

Lovely place to stop off for a pint. Very friendly staff and atmosphere and a nice spot out the back for sitting.

We could not have received a warmer welcome from Martin and Michelle, from the minute we walked through the door we knew we were onto something special, I checked the opening times via messenger so arriving just after midday knew lunch was guaranteed, a nice selection of beers, lagers, all well kept, I had an IPA it was spot on, as for lunch, I had a Black Burger and Gillian opted for Lasagne, both dishes were homemade, well cooked and well presented and went down a treat, all in all a great lunch, if you are in the area it's definitely worth a visit, and another bonus is they're dog friendly.

We are staying up the road at the Coo Palace, the staff of which recommended this venue for its bar. They serve Sulwath Ales which my husband likes, particularly "Criffel". They also free the local craft Galloway gin, Sky Garden, a delightfully smooth gin that goes extremely well with a simple Indian tonic and ice which suits me well. The couple who own the hotel are charming and funny. Michelle does most of the catering herself I believe although we have not eaten there. It's certainly a great pub but I can't speak for the accommodation. We intend to return there for a drink this evening.

We went to the Borgue Hotel when we were staying close by and had a wonderful meal. The welcome for us and our two collie dogs was great. The dogs had treats and we had a lovely home cooked meal... the best lasagne I've had for a very long time. Thank you so much. We'll hopefully be back soon!

We were staying for the week at Coo Palace, heard good reports about this place so decided to pay a call. The landlord was away for the day but his wife was a charming deputy and made us feel at home. The bar is simple, but welcoming and there are tables outside with a covered area. The food was straight-forward, home made and delicious with good-sized portions. Lasagne was one of the best (of many) I have tasted and my wife was similarly complimentary about her gammon. Great value for money. A very friendly place.

We visited the bar during a long walk and took advantage of a much needed drink and some food. Luckily we passed by on a Wednesday as food only appears to be service Wednesday through to the weekend. We were welcomed by the owner who took interest in holiday and walk. Dog friendly both in and out. We took advantage of the good weather and their outside eating area. Reasonably priced and good food. A welcomed rest and lunch. Thank you.

We enjoyed 4 days in Dumfries and Galloway, a nostalgic return to the area we just to visit, it was made perfect by the scenery, days of glorious weather and most of all by our stay in the hotel. We and our dog were made very welcome by Martin and Michelle, Our room was excellent as was the food, the curries, homemade jams and sticky toffe pudding were exceptional.Michelle was better at providing for my special dietary needs than I was, making sure everything was suitable for me.We enjoyed good humoured morning chats. Their knowledge of the locality was very helpful and on their suggestion we visited a local art gallery and the site of the red kite centre at feeding time, seeing the birds so close was fantastic. We also enjoyed the atmosphere in the village pub in the evenings. a interesting combination of hotel and pub joined but not impinging. We returned home relaxed and refreshed..
