In my 45yrs, I have never experienced a GP receptionist advising me as though she were a doctor and attempting to prevent me from obtaining an appointment.I rarely visit the doctors and I was with the same GP for 30yrs and another for 10, without issue. Only changing due to relocating. And none of these have - nor require - a lengthy spiel warning patients not to upset the receptionists. When I moved to Barassie, I had a series of unfortunate events which led to me using the service more than I?d have liked. Each time, before being able to speak with someone, there is a 1.5min ramble about not being abusive to the staff.I now believe this to say more about the staff than about the patients. The receptionists acting like nightclub bouncers questioning very private matters before they decide whether they will refer you to the next stage of deserving a consultation with a GP.To offer context, I fell hard on the ground over a 2inch steel trip hazard drilled into the road by GC Council. I believe I may have a bruised lung, but I also have other minor injuries that may cause long term damage due to pre-existing injuries. I don?t want to take up space at an already exhausted A&E so felt I needed to take advice from GP first. On day 1 of trying to get an appointment, I was told by a receptionist to go directly to A&E. Disrespect intended, I didn?t pay taxes for a receptionist to provide GP advice. If I felt there was an emergency, I?d not be calling a receptionist for advice, I?d be at the hospital. On day 2, I was met with more inappropriate questions and ended up phoning the partner surgery for advice, who were far more palatable.Day 3, I was clear about wanting a GP consultation. I was not rude, nor was I shouting - despite the receptionist telling me I was. She then said ?if you don?t stop speaking to me like that, I?m going to put you through to someone else? before promptly disconnecting me. It wasn?t long before she phoned me back as I?m sure she realised a complaint was imminent and I immediately informed her that I was recording the call. At that moment, she could not have been more helpful and arranged an appointment with a GP.Overall, it is no surprise that this surgery has a 90 second pre-discussion warning about ?abusive? behaviour towards staff.Which most of society would simply call ?patients who are ill and clearly are phoning for help but become frustrated that the receptionist thinks they can speak on the doctors behalf?.The switch in manner of the receptionist when I told her I was recording the call was priceless. She went from growly impatient beast to Disney Princess in a heartbeat!

Fairly new to the practice and had a fab one before this in my previous area so I was quite anxious about moving. So far ? I?ve only had positive experiences, I?ve felt heard valued and understood. It?s a great start ?..

Superb service. Rare to find a surgery where reception, nursing and doctors consistently exceed expectations. Particularly good with children and anxious mums. Always taking the time to explain what is likely to happen next, how to manage the issue etc. Never make me feel as though I'm wasting their time. We moved here from Templehill a few years back. Best thing we ever did. Feel very lucky.

Good doctors would give 5 stars, but cant get an appointment when you call first thing in morning. Constantly engaged, when you do get threw 9 times out of 10 there is nothing left for that day!! Very unfair system, that does not work well for anyone unless you constantly redial and spin the wheel of luck.

This surgery is the best one I have been to! I am having to wait 8 weeks for an urgent referral to the hospital. Meanwhile the medowgreen staff have been amazing.Emma the receptionist reacted to my concerns by phoning the appointments like at the hospital to get me on the cancellations list and organised for me to see the doctor to review my issue. This was done off her own back and without me asking. She phoned me after our call the previous day (after the surgery was fully booked by early morning) Emma phoned to make sure I knew about the appointment that she reserved. This has made a huge difference to me!The doctor was incredible too! I didn't catch her name but she double checked the referral times and listened to my concerns, whilst she gave me practical advice. So happy I registered here and I would recommend the surgery to everyone!
