Me and my colleague stayed for 2 nights in that lovely cosy place. What a lucky pick! Thank you all for the welcoming absorption into your local community and the interesting, well balanced mix of Scottish and British culture. It just felt right to us in that round so similar to our Saxon 300 souls village. No wonder we clicked so well ;)

Really liked the Macbeth Arms. Truely the fluffiest towels on the planet. We had everything we needed and they accommodated a late arrival. Very organized. We wondered about the name until we stopped at the stone across the street. Macbeth may have met his fate here.

A gem in rural Aberdeenshire. What a fantastic little hotel! Great no fuss service, a squeaky clean room, good wi-fi and set in the spectacular countryside of Aberdeenshire. Loved my stay here and will definitely return. John C.

Had a great stay at this fantastic little hotel. Spectacular rural setting and a lot of history. No fuss service, a squeaky clean room and a great base for exploring rural Aberdeenshire. Highly recommended and will definitely return.

My Wife and I needed somewhere to stay at short notice recently whilst in Scotland with our two dogs. A local fella in another village recommended this pub to say at. I phoned up and was met by a friendly answer and we were offered a room for the night. The Landlord was friendly as were all the customers in the pub that I chatted to. Thee bar was reasonably stocked for a small village pub and the IPA tasted a treat. The room was a fair price and clean with a huge comfy bed and pillows. The pub itself was not too busy or noisy for a Saturday night and my Wife and I had a great nights sleep. The dogs were both very settled there and there are some brilliant dog walks in the village and a playing field to walk them on. The pub does not serve food or offer breakfast which was not a problem. The village has a tea room and a convenience store and the Landlord recommended a few local places to eat in or take food away which were all a few minutes drive from the pub.I would definantely stay here again if travelling in the area and woulkd recommend the pub/accpmmodation to family, friends and anyone else needing somewhere to stay in this area.

Booked hotel via website on Friday 1st July 2022 to stay on Saturday 2nd July. Hotel was advertised as having a bar. I knew it was a remote location but was happy as there was a bar available. Arrived at hotel to check in to find that it was completely closed up and there was a note on the door to say that the bar will be closed on Thursday 30th June and Saturday 2nd July 2022. As we were driving away from the hotel and we got a phone signal we received a text message saying the hotel was closed but we could still have our room. I called the number from which the text was sent and spoke to a gentleman and explained that there was absolutely nothing else in the area other than the hotel and why would we pay to just stay in our room when we could have stayed at home and done that. Also at the time of the booking they must have known there would be no facilities available. I requested a refund and was told by the gentleman I spoke to that he would have to speak to his boss? He then sent a further text saying that he would offer us a free bottle of wine if I stayed on a different night. This was not acceptable as I live two hours away and would not be planning on driving all that way again in the near future. I replied to the text and again requested a refund for services not delivered. The message was then ignored. They still have not refunded the £82 to my bank account. I was really looking forward to a night away as this was the first time I had been away since 2019 due to covid restrictions. This is a very dishonest way for a hotel to do business. I had to drive another 10 miles to find a hotel which I luckily managed to get.

My room was large and very clean. The locals were very friendly and welcoming. But. There was no food not even breakfast and if you have to travel miles to eat you may as well stay miles away too. But the noise from the bar was the real problem. It went on til 1.30am and if it had just been talking and laughing I would have coped, but not with shouting and screaming. I paid £80 for a good room but in a run down building with no food. Not good enough. I had been looking for a future stop off in the area. Sadly the Macbeth Arms wont be it.

Needed a hotel overnight while visiting Craigivar Castle. We turned up at 16.15pm, to realise that the hotel opens at 5pm. We had a sudden panic, thinking maybe they wouldn't be open at all. We returned around 6pm after finding a great wee bistro in Alford (aroung 7 miles away). The hotel was lovely, looks like a refurb had just been completed with everything looking brand new and fresh. We were the only two staying that night and were given the front door key to get back in. Access to all rooms is via a security keycode, which is great as you don't need to carry a key card around with you. The beds were extremely comfortable and we slept like logs. In the morning our continental breakdfast was laid out for us and we were advised to go down at antytime, which was brilliant.
