Great Cup of Tea and a delicious Biscuit

This is an interesting café to stop in. The walls are lined with fire fighting equipment and PPE from through the ages. It is very clean and tidy and the staff were very friendly. The coffee was good and the food was very good. I highly recommend.

The staff were extremely welcoming when we arrived around 11am on our multi-day cycle trip (Tour de Cairngorms). Plenty of space for our bycicles outside. They immediately offered to refill our water bottles, which was very kind. Traditional fare at this tea room. We had the pancakes with bacon and maple syrup and milky foamy coffee, which were great. I also got a slice of cake to take away, which I enjoyed later at Loch Builg.

Good parking and that's about it for the good. Don't ask for any kind of good coffee. I asked for an Americano with half the water (bit like a long black) and was presented with a complete look of confusion, then a filter basket and a coffee bag (was over £4 for this coffee). I skipped the coffee. Bacon roll comes in a baguette, but too much bread for the amount of filling. Staff seemed to be at 6s and 7s with the various orders coming out, like it was their first week of business. Final straw was a 20p charge for a sachet of sauce. The food is not cheap in there, so their margin must be enough to cover some squirty bottles with cheap sauce in it. Not a crowd pleaser.

Worth a visit just to order the worst coffee in Scotland. SIt inside on the heaviest and most uncomfortable seats that deafen you when scraped along the floor. The coffee was not cheap and and quite disgusting. Instant, expensive and steamed to boiling point creating the thickest indigestable foam. Undrinkable. Removed with a shovel.

By chance, we stopped here for morning tea on our way south today. We were looking for tea and a scone or similar, and were not disappointed.
The baking was fresh and delicious, probably the best scone I have had so far while on our road trip, and it was nice to sit outside enjoying the sunshine.
As a bonus, the parking was easy, right outside, and the bathrooms were clean.

Great place to stop for a coffee and breakfast. Service can be slow, but if you get the weather you can sit outside and watch the other tourists go by. Highly recommend for bikers, motorised or otherwise.

Barely sell any food and when I was there I bought pancakes for about £5 and I only got 1 wee pancake with a ball of ice-cream. Waste of money
