Lucky us; we had a few hours here so we relaxed in the historic, cosy, yet regal Fife Arms. We've been meaning to go for a wee while as it's almost on our doorstep. The restaurant surroundings are excellent, but the service was only so so. What we assumed to be the restaurant manager must have walked past out table 20 or 20 times without a smile or "how was everything" which was unusual for an upmarket restaurant....

From The Drawing Room
The walls are adorned in The Fife Arms tartan, which was designed especially for the hotel and the room is richly furnished with Scottish art and antiques. It is a place to relax and unwind over coffee or an evening drink. The room’s ceiling was commissioned by Chinese artist, Zhang Enli, who is renowned for painting directly onto the walls or ceiling of a room to create an immersive, nostalgic environment. For ‘Ancient Quartz’ Zhang took inspiration from cross sections of Scottish agates, whose deceptively simple exteriors conceal a dazzling array of colour and texture.
