Fabulously run hotel.Great value for money. Immaculately clean rooms, wonderful friendly staff..And NOT to forget the kitchen team...no wonder you have to book a table for supper, even as a resident of the hotel. Well done, the teams!

This was my second stay here and both were excellent. Room was comfortable and clean. Reasonably priced. Definitely a great option for a night on the NC500. Check out the local beaches and Castle of Mey.

Would highly recommend hotel. Stayed there two nights while we took day trip to Orkney. Staff were great. Beds comfortable. Easy walking distance to the town centre. I had actually stayed there about thirty years ago. It's a family owned hotel and it shows.

Staff are really friendly which was great as I was travelling alone on business. The room was clean and quite spacious, although around the window frames could do with attention. Sound proofing really lets this hotel down unfortunately, I could hear everything from other rooms as if they were in mine e.g. light switches, running water, coughing, noise from the corridor etc which made me very conscious of making any sort of noise myself e.g. flushing the toilet at night, showering early in the morning etc. It did quieten down in the middle of the night thank goodness so got a decent sleep then. The evening menu looked good and I heard people complimenting the food, although I didn't have dinner there but I enjoyed a nice glass of wine which was reasonably priced. Breakfast was great with lots of options, I had a lovely omelette and nice fresh bread for toast. The hotel's just outside the centre of Thurso and is only about 10 minutes or so walk to shops etc so a good enough location. Overall a good hotel if the noise wouldn't bother you, but I have taken 2 stars off for this as it was a big disappointment for me personally.

What a pleasant surprise! I don't know what I was expecting but they exceeded any expectations I would have had. Great staff, great food, great room, great location. I strongly recommend.

Stayed here when doing the NC500 and what a great find. The rooms were clean and beds comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. We did not book breakfast but did have an evening meal. The meal was reasonably priced with plenty to eat, the restaurant was busy so best to pre book. Overall a lovely night and we would stay again.

Great location, 10 minute stroll across the river from the town. Plenty of parking on site. Nice views if sitting in the window area of bar lounge. Nicely decorated. Good menu, varied and reasonable prices. Waiting person was not the best, could do with some people skills. Food was hot, fresh and tasty. Portions were ample. Soup was 4.50, steak pie, GF, 10.95, panini 6.75 and Cajun chicken burger 12 ish. Would come back.Walkability: Easy walk from town.

Had a very pleasant night here plus evening meal. Easy walk into Thurso town centre.Pleased to see that the hotel had the foresight to have a Rapid electric car charging facility in the car park.

This family owned hotel is ideal to stop over if touring the north coast or getting the ferry from Scrabster to Orkney. Check in was straight forward and polite, the room was perfect and dinner, which requires prebooking, was good. We had a good night's sleep and breakfast set us up for the day, even although porridge is not offered! We also stayed overnight on the way back from Orkney and stayed in a different room which was even better than the first stay.

Went this evening with the intention of getting a meal. fully booked, but told if we could be out by 7 we could have a table. We were in about 4.30pm, so we had a pot of coffee. Waitress was in at 4.45pm. More diners arrived. Waitress jumped at all the other tables, serving drinks and taking orders. We were ignored. We had to ask for a menu as she passed by. Very disappointed with the service. They could have had more staff on. We got fed up with being ignored so we paid for coffee and left. We got a meal elsewhere and it was lovely along with the pleasant service with a smileFood & drinks: Service terrible

Hotel was booked out so couldn?t stay, but the staff went above and beyond ringing around all the other local (and non-local) establishments until they found us a room. Absolutely brilliant service!!!

I made a mistake in my hotels.com booking, totally my stupidity, and didn't discover it until 10 pm on the evening I should have been there. Even then, they were willing to bring my booking forward by 24 hours and allowed me to turn up just one hour later. Amazing.

There is nothing to complain about this hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. Clean and comfortable rooms. Located in town with amenities within walking distance. Plenty of parking and easy access even for a 9 person van. Would stay here again
