Disgusting rip off . Shabby bedroom with window facing a 20 feet high wall. Couldn?t see any sky ! Sink in the bedroom and tiny shower in the corner.Rooms advertised as ?having lovely views to the Orkneys ? . We had a 20 feet high wall 8 feet from the bedroom window. Wife in tears after a very long drive. This room should only be a storeroom. So sad there are people like this living in Scotland fleecing the public.VisitScotland Tourist Board should take appropriate action.Charged £110 per night for this ! No reply to emails and letters asking for an apology and refund.Sums up these despicablepeople who should be made to stay in that room for a long period to reflect on greed and how to treat fellow humans in a decent manner.

I went for a meal here before taking the ferry to the Orkney Islands. The staff are very accommodating in cooking our food quickly so that we wouldn't miss the ferry. Unpretentious old school bar that is very good for a quick

Tired hotel. Mattress felt and sounded like it was made of rusty springs, and the bathroom felt like a caravan with floor to ceiling plastic panels. Sink was in the bedroom above carpet which is weird! As for the harbour location, leave expectations of twee boats bobbing up and down at the door. We had a view of cranes, industrial silos and HGVs going back and forth to what is an incredibly commercial port. Great for the harbour, not so great for the hotel. Lounge/bar area was similarly dated, breakfast was fine.

Have stayed here a number of times now. It is in the harbour 1 minutes walk from the Northliknk ferry terminal for trips to the Orkney Islands. It is a no frills hotel with a really good restaurant. The food is good quality and staff are friendly and professional. Rooms are clean and well presented, all the usual in room items are present (kettle, coffee, tea bags, milk, tv, ensuite- towels, shower gel etc). Breakfast is fabulous - full Scottish everytime, but there are healthier alternatives too. Breakfast times are suited to the early morning ferry service.I will be staying here again and have no hesitation recommending it.

I stayed here overnight after a long week camping in orkney. Stayed a night here before my train down south. Staff were absolutely lovely ! My room was spacious and very clean. Lots of tea and sugar :) bed was very comfortable! A short walk to a BEAUTIFUL beach ! And a 6 minute walk to the ferry terminal. I felt very safe as a lone traveller. And would 100% return. The food was BEAUTIFUL aswell! Highly recommend the restaurant! And a nice seating area at the bar too ! But the staff were very helpful and made me feel very welcome. Thank you for a brilliant stay :)

Stopped in for dinner after getting back from Orkney, menu looked good and we were looking forward to trying it. Both ordered starters and they were good, nothing special but tasty nonetheless. For mains, my partner ordered the Honey Salmon with black pudding mash, this sounded excellent, especially the mash as he is a fond lover of both black pudding and mashed tatties. I ordered the house burger. When the food arrived there was no sign of the mash and instead some measly dry looking new potatoes. When asking the lovely young waitress she said ?oh yes there has been a change and it?s just the menu hasn?t been updated yet? you can imagine this being a disappointment to him seeing as the mash was something that stood out. Knowing this he probably would have changed his main choice. The burger came out lathered in thick relish, cheese, bacon and salad with a 6oz beef burger sandwiched between. Seeing the burger was a surprise to me as it wasn?t mentioned on the menu it came with all these added extras. Upon cutting this in half, my knife would only attempt to saw through it, over cooked, dry and rock solid. I attempted to eat half, however the other half had to be left. Sad that I lost half of my meal because of it. The side of chips were fine but your typical ?cook from frozen? sort of fries. After finishing our mains, we sat waiting for around 35 minutes before being acknowledged or even our plates taken away, the desire for dessert had gone and disappointment definitely set in. They were busy however to watch the waiters walk past us atleast 6 times before acknowledging our existence was a joke. When settling the bill, having alerted the waiters of the issues with our meal, the what I can only guess, manager offered to take a starter item off the bill, neither of the starters were an issue for us. We also explained the mash confusion to which she turned round and shouted at the two young members of staff ?before you put out the salmon tell them there?s no mash!!? We were not only taken aback by this but so were they, baring in mind the restaurant was full.We left disappointed and deflated, a shame for such a nice wee community and what seemed to be a busy place with the locals.
