We booked one of the best rooms available, one with a bathtub and lake views, since it was our honeymoon and we wanted a nice room. Once we arrived and were accommodated in our room, we realized it wasn't the one shown in the photos. Indeed, they had made a mistake when assigning us the room. The problem was they had booked the same room twice so all the rooms on the level we had booked?and paid for?were occupied. Far from solving the problem, they blamed Booking. They also told us they couldn't refund our money or pay us the difference, and that we had to manage it through Booking, knowing perfectly well that the platform never answers. The efficiency and effectiveness of the management were terrible. Very unhappy and disappointed with our special night, the biggest mistake of our honeymoon.
P.S.: In order to arrive at the hotel, be prepared for a hectic hour, and not in a good way.

My husband and I stayed here in June for our Anniversary and couldn?t have been happier with the experience. The staff was friendly, rooms clean and comfortable with a beautiful view of the Loch, and the food exquisite. We had the best time ?getting lost? woods, which were nothing short of magical. Thank you to all the staff for an amazing stay.

One of the most intriguing places I have ever stayed in! I will definitely come back when I'm in the area again

Booked the hotel to meet with friends great location and great views. The hotel is an old stately home and the the interior reflects this with high ceilings and large ornate salons. However the words we found for it during our stay were, full of character and quirky. The once great house is showing it?s age a bit. Well worth the trip (the road is 10 miles of single track) but the views are spectacular.
The food was good but unexpected expensive.
All together a great weekend.

Loved our stay! Super authentic, felt like staying in a castle! Staff were fantastic and the food was delicious. I gave the location a 3 because it's a bit out of the way and the road in is really narrow, however, the grounds and views are stunning!!!!

Really lovely location and staff

The Ardanaiseig Hotel had exactly the classic, old-world atmosphere that we wanted. This historic manor on Loch Awe was a hidden refuge from the modern world that allowed us to mentally step back in time a bit as we enjoyed the hotel?s peace and elegance. True, the hotel is not brimming with high-speed, modern conveniences, and it definitely has a ?lived in? feel to it. However, we were looking for a more personal atmosphere when we booked our stay and we found the hotel?s slightly faded glamour absolutely charming! We especially adored the many unique and handsomely decorated rooms. Antiques and beautiful knickknacks abound throughout the hotel. It is a veritable visual feast. Speaking of feasts, we enjoyed two delightful meals and a wonderful bottle of red wine during our stay. The staff seemed busy, filling multiple positions in the hotel, but they were kind and knowledgeable nonetheless. We stayed in the Ben Lui room, which we found very comfortable, with lovely views of both the loch in back and the front garden, not to mention its exquisite clawfoot tub. Although we were only able to stay one night, we did have an opportunity to explore the grounds a little before we left, and we found them equally charming with a somewhat wild, natural feel. The Ardanaiseig Hotel capped our whirlwind tour of Scotland perfectly! We were so sad to learn while checking out that they are closing. We had hoped to stay there again. It is a great loss in our opinion.

Terrible experience ? rude welcome and complete lack of professionalism
We were a group of 7 friends staying at the château, looking forward to a pleasant evening and a nice dinner on-site. From the moment we arrived, the reception was shockingly rude. The receptionist made it clear she did not want to ?bother? explaining things to everyone, so she would only speak to me and expected me to relay all information to the rest of the group. She also insisted I assign the rooms myself rather than speaking directly to my friends.
Right after check-in, she informed us that the Wi-Fi was not working and that the water was yellow??but it?s fine.? Not exactly a warm welcome.
Things got worse when some of my friends began to walk upstairs. She shouted at them to go back down, saying we could not pass each other on the stairs because ?it brings bad luck.? No explanation, just shouting and bizarre rules.
But the worst part was the dinner. We had clearly indicated during booking that we wanted to dine at the restaurant, and we were told nothing to the contrary. We arrived at 8:25 PM, only to be told that the kitchen stops taking orders at 8:30. We quickly chose our meals and the waiter and chef agreed to take our orders. Then, out of nowhere, the same receptionist came in, overruled everyone, and forced the chef to cancel our order. Just like that, no dinner.
As the château is in the middle of nowhere (30 minutes from the main road), we had to drive 45 minutes at night to the nearest town to find a place willing to take our money and our good mood.
When I asked to speak with a manager, she simply replied that she was in charge. In other words: take it or leave it.
We travel a lot, and this was without question one of the rudest and most unprofessional experiences we?ve ever had.
Avoid this place.

One star for the setting, zero for the experience.
The location is absolutely stunning and the castle itself is full of charm. The rooms are decent, although the beds were extremely uncomfortable. Unfortunately, that?s where the positives end.
We arrived at the hotel at 8 PM and were met with a cold, unpleasant welcome?no smile, no greeting, and even got scolded when we walked up the stairs to look at the paintings. After settling into the lounge, we headed to the restaurant at 8:28 PM, only to be told the kitchen was closing in 2 minutes and we had to order immediately. Despite trying to comply, at 8:31 PM we were informed that the chef refused to serve us. Absolutely unacceptable. We ended up having to drive 45 minutes each way to find somewhere still open to eat.
What could have been a magical stay turned into a frustrating and disappointing experience. Would not recommend unless the service improves drastically.

Location and views of the place were amazing and most of the staff were lovely.
That being said, the hotel lacked the quality and service of a 4* hotel. We spent 4 nights there and they didn?t make up our rooms once. The house wasn?t heated properly and it was freezing. The entire service team didn?t seem to have much of a system to be honest.
Quite far away from everything. You need 25 minutes to reach the Main Street to go anywhere.

We had a long weekend here during storm eowyn. On Friday at 14:00 the power went out. The staff were brilliant and put out candles and kept the fires roaring. We played boardgames and did walks around the grounds once the weather lifted. We left in the Sunday afternoon. I must say this was a weekend to remember and thank you to all the staff for a great time.

We had our wedding here on 16/11/24 and my husband said - ?I think you chose the best place in the world?. Ardanaiseig is so full of character, romantic and absolutely beautiful. Each room has its own personality, some with the best views of the loch. The staff went out of their way to ensure that we had what we needed and that we were happy, including setting up the dining area with beautiful decor while we were having our ceremony including adding bits that they had to make it look perfect. By the time we had left it felt almost like they were family to us. From the start Dawn was always readily available to take any queries or concerns. The food was great and there was a decent selection of drinks including alcohol free gin & beer which was much appreciated. I actually struggled leaving here upon check-out and feel that this place will hold a strong sentimental value for me for the rest of my life. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart for making my day even more perfect than I could have imagined and we will certainly be back

Lovely building in a great location on Loch Awe. Great woodland walks and dog friendly. The food was very good and the service friendly and non-corporate. The rooms are ready for some tlc, but are warm and comfortable. Marine was very friendly and helpful. Definitely worth visiting.

We recently stayed in the Ben Lui room. This was such a romantic and beautiful stay. The grounds are quiet, the hotel is cozy, and the food was delicious. The room was large and comfortable. While the gardens and grounds aren?t entirely up kept, it personally added to the experience. Morning walks around the large property added to our stay. Can?t wait to come back and stay again!
