Great little pub in Tain, popped in a couple of times whilst on a golf trip. Very friendly and welcoming and served a good pint. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.

A proper little Scottish Pub. No frills or pretence, it is what it is. Clean, tidy, good craic and friendly atmosphere. As long a you behave reasonably you glass will always be half full, at least!

Only stopped in for a quick point while the car was charging ring the corner, but the beer was good, staff were friendly and welcoming, and they were happy for me to bring my 11 year old and my dog in.

A true traditional pub. Such a rarity these days. No frills nor pretensions, your half & a half kinda place. Dog friendly (wee Hamish a sweetie!). Best type of barmaid in the lovely, banter filled Jackie....cheers me dear! Will be back, promise not a threat lol!ThanksSquirrel

Friendly landlady, traditional Scottish town pub. We asked if there where any sandwiches available for lunch, sadly not; but the landlady didn't hesitate to say that we could collect a takeaway and eat in. So a relaxing time spent, with a few drinks and good company. Before we headed off to Bannerman's to buy supper

The office.. Great little pub, the only Public house in Tain, the rest are hotels or restaurants. Great for a quiet drink, friendly staff & a well stocked bar, at the cheapest prices in Tain. Even lemonade bottles on the bar as a free mixer..

The Star Inn is a dive for sure. It's home to mostly locals and some wayward travelers staying up the street at the Royal Tain Hotel. However, this small pub, in heart of Tain, has more personality, friendliness, and love than most places we find in the states. The characters are many, the drams of scotch are cheaper than a pint, and the stories will make you come back everyday. If you're in, grab a dram, a pint, and perhaps a game of spoof. One of the most wonderful little pubs I have been to in all my travels. It does not look like much, but give it a chance and strike up a conversation if you're traveling through.
