We loved our visit , the food and service was excellent. We really enjoyed the whole lobster and scallops and they also did a brilliant kids menu. If you're in Portmahomack it's worth trying to book a table but book early as it books up at least a month ahead in the summer.

Eating here is always a treat that we look forward to annually on a golf buddies trip to Scotland.
Food is always good and the menu choices are great.
Susan and her husband are just fantastic to work with.
If you?re in the Tain/Dornoch area, it?s well worth the trip to the restaurant!!!

Delicious food with a great dining experience. Two courses were all I could manage due to all the snagging appetisers in between the courses. Fabulous time had by me and my wife.

The Oyster Catcher is a throwback to a different era. It's a small house packed with antiques. Susan and her husband make you very welcome. We booked the en suite Carpenter Room. We found a fridge, lots of freebies, the offer of fresh milk, a nice-sized bed, and a good shower. Unfortunately, because of the thick wall, Fi reception was very poor. We stopped for dinner, and it was absolutely amazing. Fine dining plus lots and lots of nibbles served before and during courses. The bread is homemade, and you've got a big basket full. You need to pace yourself, as by the end of the first course, we were struggling, but we carried on and finished all the courses. The choice at breakfast is enormous; I have never known a hotel or B&B to have so many choices. The service at dinner and breakfast was superb, with Susan fussing over you and ensuring you had everything you wanted. This is a unique experience, and if you are in the area, it's a place you must stay for dinner or for a bed and breakfast, but come with a big appetite.

This is a hidden gem, and it?s impossible to just walk into without planning and reservations. They?re not playing hard to get; it?s simply because it?s run by a lovely couple and no one else. The food is amazing?better than fine dining, with portion your grandma would give you. Don?t overorder as they give you a few small bites here and there outside what you?ve ordered. I had to walk along the shore for half an hour just to recover from how much I ate. I?m glad I made the reservation weeks in advance?it was worth every penny, mile traveled, and the wait.

Ate here tonight - we come every year as part of the holiday routine. Nothing routine about this restaurant though - simply marvellous. Thanks again to Susan and Husband for a spectacular meal. Food was just fantastic as was the service!!

If you know you're coming to Portmahomack then book a reservation to dine at the Oystercatcher. Unless you are a complete curmudgeon, you will be blown away by the extreme thoughtfulness that goes into every single sniff, sip, bite and swallow that you will take on this wondrous gastral journey of delicacies.

A lovely family-run fine dining restaurant!Exclusive experience, they only host few tables per night, so hostess is really attentive, endeavor to give you best servicesFood is fabulous, fresh and good quality ingredients , well-cooked and beautifully-dished.3 courses with many nibbles will definitely make you satisfied, we couldn?t take breakfast or big lunch next day?

Very unique but amazing. The service was outstanding and I can honestly say I have never experienced anything like it before. The place was fully booked but we were the only people in for an hour which I believe is so they can devote service to just you.We will be back.Vegetarian options: Plenty of vegetarian options should that be your thing in a seafood restaurant.
