I had the Butter Baked Haddock and A Dram of 10yr old Laphroaig. Got to admit, the food was absolutely tremendous.

The building is historically interesting with a good atmosphere. The menu is pretty standard pub grub, although the quality is pretty good, and portion sizes ok. Food and drink is a little pricier, but not unreasonably so. Whilst the largely young staff team are friendly they aren?t particularly able, or empowered (or trained), to deal with questions or requests. We asked for a couple of extra oat cakes with our cheese, and after going off to consult were told this would be an extra £1.50 - we declined the offer! When I suggested (at the end of the meal) to the person in charge that this was not great customer service (we?d spent £90 in the place that night), she told me they?d been in business 10 years, and gave a frankly insincere apology. I?m not really sure why she felt the need to be so defensive, when given a minor bit of feedback. Oh well, like most of their customers I won?t be returning, so perhaps they think it doesn?t matter what the tourist visitor thinks. Shame.

Had Sunday lunch, it was okay but not great, Bidfood style roast tatties and veg, plenty beef but definitely lacking freshly cooked food.

Nice place to grab a bite. Food is fine, but not great. Lots of families. Nice bar! Staff was attentive and nice.

Quirky pub where we stopped for a shandy and the craic before continuing to the campsite

DELICIOUS. WITH GOOD FOOD AND PLEASANT STAFF
Very nice and quaint, spacious and quiet, with a view directly (for fans like my mum) of the train tracks!
Excellent location, and very friendly staff :-D
We ate: soup of the day (with spicy sweet potatoes... maybe a little too spicy for us) and Beer Battered Chicker Goujons. All good.
Then they helped us choose the whisky, looking on the dedicated menu for the one that best matched the flavours we were looking for.
A great resource for Tain (although a little expensive...) ;-)

We went to the Platform's sister restaurant in Portmahamaic,, ,the Castle. It's only been open 4 days. The food was great, fun atmosphere, but I found a wood screw in my mussels. The owner was not apologetic and seemed annoyed with us. He said it added flavor. It would have been worse in a salad, but was ok in mussels, because you are picking things out. I was still unable to finish my meal. No refund, no extra dessert, nothing..

Always a great place for something to eat. We use it regularly now on our travels from Orkney when going South. Definitely recommend!

Wonderful meal after a train trip landing at Tain Station. I greatly enjoyed the veggie burger and my companions enjoyed their food as well!

Beer and staff lovely. Food was tragic. When the onion ring is the best thing on the plate, you know you?re in trouble.

Working in the area and ate here based on a local recommendation. Food and service are both excellent. We both had the braised beef which was so good we contemplated going back as we were in town for a few nights. Will definitely return if staying near here again. Thank you!

Wonderful experience. We started with the amazing cocktail special and sat on some couches. Then we were immediately welcomed by who we initially thought were friendly locals but eventually discovered was the owner. We played darts with him and his friend and had the most lovely time.
He told us all about the pieces they preserved from the old train station and the Haggis was amazing. The rest of the bar and kitchen staff were also super friendly. Highly recommend.
