We had some car trouble and found this gem by complete accident. We are so glad we did! Great service, amazing food, beautiful views, and a gorgeous home built in the 1800s.

Inn located within a historic country home.
Service and dining were excellent. The garden is an extravaganza. Countryside walks lead out from the house.
It's a + 200 year old building - the attention to finish in the primary rooms is excellent.
Thanks for a lovely stay!

Truly an amazing place to stay. Honestly if I could I would rate it 100 stars. Since the moment I arrived with my tour party to the moment we left we were treated like royalty. Staff are excellent very helpful polite and friendly. Its family owned a true hidden gem in the Highlands. The hosts Stuart and Suzannah were amazing. Well done and thank you for an amazing stay. I must mention our waitress Shannon nothing was a problem to her. It truly was a pleasure meeting you all. Your smiles are contagious. W.D.T. Will be back guaranteed.

McLaren Owners Club ALL voted this the best hotel we stayed at on a recent week-long tour. For me, the best hotel I?ve ever stayed at anywhere in the world

Attended a wedding here. Arrived two days before the wedding and late in the evening but the welcome was incredible. They could not of done more for me.
The staff are absolutely amazing and work so hard to keep you comfortable.
The food is fabulous, presented beautifully and you can see and taste the care that goes in to it.
The location is beautiful with access to many other local beauty spots as well as small towns and pretty villages and only a 40 minute drive from Inverness airport.
The wedding was faultless from start to finish and again, everything you needed or wanted was there.
Definitely recommend and thank you to all the staff for making my stay so good I don't want to leave.

Coul House is a rare treasure. A beautifully maintained A-listed Victorian country house, lovingly kept grounds and most importantly owners and staff that made us so welcome we felt like family.

Do NOT expect 7 star metropolitan luxury at the Coul House hotel. The owners, Stuart and Susannah, have created something far superior to that type of anodyne offering. This is a place to relax and 'coorie in' (the Scottish term to snuggle). This cosy family-run hotel, set in stunning grounds, has open fires and a well-stocked bar. If you want a laugh, challenge the ever-enthusiastic Stuart to gamely attempt (butcher!) pronouncing the Gaelic whisky brand names. The loyal staff are highly attentive without being overpowering and the relaxed, dog-friendly atmosphere is a joy. The icing on the cake, literally, is the food. Local produce, cooked beautifully with so many of the 'extras' (bread, preserves, ice cream etc.) made in-house. Delicious.
One note of advice for first-time visitors is to pay attention when arriving in Contin village. It is very easy to drive past the hotel entrance. Once through the gate, keep going up the LONG driveway until you reach the house. It is well worth it.

Can't say much more than others have said about how lovely this hotel was but here goes: decor was lovely and tastefully done throughout; room was just toasty; shower and bathroom great. Then there's the lovely food, staff and owners too. Don't forget to look at the room folder where the menu and information about the history of the hotel and ancestors but most of all you have to read Stuart and Susannah's journey to get where they are with the hotel today. Will we be back? Darn Tootin we will ??
