Stayed at this hotel on a bus tour of the Outer Hebrides. Check inn was quick as it was a long day travelling. All staff were great from reception and restaurant, kind, welcoming and polite. The room well I was charged by the bus company an extra £120 as I was a solo traveller which I find unfair for a single room. The room was spotless, comfy bed, furniture a bit dated but in tradition with the island with Harris Tweed soft furnishings. My only gripes were no fridge and I had no hand soap the full time I stayed there. I would stay again but not in that single room as it looked onto which I think was the restaurant or kitchen a tad too noisy.

Enjoyed the carvery that much we went back again. It?s a carvery/buffet it?s not just roast +veg, although that?s what opted for. The veg and toast potatoes were all perfectly cooked and the buttered new potatoes were spot on! Sometimes the veg at carveries is a bit soggy and limp or dried out under the lights that was definitely not the case here. There was a dessert counter where you could make your selection. I had good old fashioned trifle one night and it was brilliant. Kids cleared their plates too. Was good value.

Large free car park on site which we appreciated. Check in was quick and polished, our room (a twin) was clean however one of the beds mattresses was very old and worn and overdue replacement. The evening bar was ok but staffed by very young people who spent most of the time chattering and giggling away. Breakfast was ok with a good selection of available choices however we noted tables (once used) took an age to clear, staff numbers at this time were very low, coffee provided was weak in quality.

Wasn't planning on staying here but had car trouble and missed a ferry so ended up on Lewis an extra night - this was the only place I could find with rooms. Busy with coach parties when I arrived. Took three attempts to get a working room key, eventually receptionist gave me a room upgrade as it looked like problem was the lock on original room not the keys. Room was OK if a bit dated. Buffet breakfast was not particularly good - not a lot of choice and quality not great. Coffee was pretty poor. For what I paid I would expect better. On a positive note, location is within walking distance of the town centre pubs and eating places but has parking which I found was sometimes a problem on previous visits to Stornoway. I wouldn't choose to stay here again.

Fab hotel very close to Ferry handy for Tesco and shops. Friendly staff nice clean comfortable rooms great breakfast and dinner options . I was there with a coach tour was a great base. We had a good sized room - room 7 not a great view out window but we were out looking at all the great views so it didn?t affect our stay. Beds were very comfortable

Like many hotels, they appear to struggle for staff. Tiny rooms, not clean. Even as residents, we could not get a dinner booking at a sensible time so cannot comment on why it is popular. Breakfast was sad under heat lamps with underdone watery bacon, split scrambled egg and solid fried eggs. At £236 per night we expected better.

I really like this hotel. I have been coming for business for the last year. Rooms can be hit and miss from a size perspective but they are clean and comfy. The food in the evening is really good and have never ate anywhere else. The breakfast is enough to keep me going all day.

The room I was placed in (economy single) is no more than a box-room with a bathroom & skylight. Perfectly serviceable & adequate, but nothing to write home about. I'm 6'2", so any single bed is impossible to stretch out on, but an incredibly old mattress & tatty divan made getting any decent sleep a challenge. The tired linen didn't help either, and I should mention the lack of pillow & mattress protectors - I didn't check beneath; in the circumstances ignorance was the better option. Overall, the room and bathroom were clean, but the single long brown hair (I'm balding & grey) that stared back at me for the whole 2 weeks (in an awkward, but still accessible place in the bathroom) betrayed a lack of diligence & detail that rather sums up the hotel in general. As for the food in the canteen (sorry, but Eleven calling itself a restaurant is stretching the definition to breaking point), it's perfectly adequate. The portions are generous & the carvery appears good value (there does appear to be a competent chef in the kitchen). It must be said that the locals love it & if it's a weekend and there's a couple of coach parties in, booking is essential. Breakfast is a battle, however, especially if the coach-loads of pensioners get there before you. Overall, the hotel is utilitarian. Catering for business, engineers, tours & hikers alike. Would i stay there again? No.

Small, dark, dingy room. No natural light. Noise drifts up from other rooms. Old, dark furnishings. Horrible. No lounge area to sit and have a coffee. Saving grace was the restaurant serving good food and carvery

I stayed at The Caladh Inn previously, though in a different room. I will say in advance that almost all staff were excellent and friendly, which is certainly the plus side of the hotel. Also, the cleaning was generally ok - though the room was not serviced. The food in the restaurant was OK. From staying there before, I knew that it was dated, though the location fine and I thought I would in fairness give the hotel one more stay to see if things improved since my last stay. TINY ROOM, SIZE NOT AS ADVERTISED: This time, I was put into a room towards the back of the hotel for my 2 nights, which was advertised as being 30M3 - however, the room was approx 10'X8' - with the ensuite being circa 7x7'. As such, the total area was circa 12m3, being generous. RESTAURANT/BAR STAFF: The young restaurant/bar staff were all friendly and attentive and the food was OK. TINY DUVET: When going to bed, I found that the thin duvet on the single bed in my room was only slightly overlapping the width of the bed when flat. As such, when going to sleep I found that the duvet was not big enough to cover me properly and I needed to adjust my sleeping position to get decent coverage. NOISE: The dated wooden framed windows let in a lot of intermittent, loud humming from the industrial estate plant/s to the rear of the building, which kept me awake intemittently on both nights. DECOR: The dated corridors, carpets, etc did not make for a pleasant general stay. BEVERAGES IN ROOM: There was a kettle and a total of 2 teabags, 5 milk caps, and 2 coffee satchets for a two night stay. (On arriving at the hotel I was informed at Reception that lots of spare tea and coffee satchets were available from reception - though I remembered thinking at the time 'Why aren't they just filled up daily?' and I felt it unconfortable having to ask at Reception for those items). NO APPARENT ROOM SERVICING: I stayed for 2 nights and though I am personally OK with not having the room serviced (bed made, towels changes, room cleaned etc ) for such a short period, there was no readily available method to ask for the room/towels etc to be serviced if you wanted to (No sign for door etc) However, the main problems at that point were the noise, room size and general 'drabness' of the hotel. STRANGE EXTRA PAYMENT REQUESTED: When checking out I was informed that I had another "£19" to pay for drinks from the bar. Being on business, I had a certain allowance and knew that, if anything, I went a couple of pounds over that allowance amount, with food and drink consumed. When I queried this I was asked about 'soft drinks' etc I had apparently had - which I didn't. I stated what I had and said I would pay the £19 but didn't agree with it. The gentleman at the desk then said he would accept £5 over - so I paid that instead (obviously I do not mind paying for food and drink actually consumed and vise-versa). After leaving the hotel I went to the restaurant area and obtained a copy of teh menu (and knew the drinks costs, as stated by the gent at reception) - and teh total of the food I had over the two nights plus the 3 drinks (beers) I had consumed during those nights took me to circa £5 over. As such, I have no idea where the apparent 'soft drinks' or '£19' overcharge originally quoted came from. Perhaps this is something that Caladh should examine for future, as it unnecessarilly created an awkward, public situation. MENTION OF NOISE APPEARED TO BE IGNORED/POINT MISSED: When checking out I was asked how my stay was. I mentioned the intermitten, low hum from the industrial estate unit immediately outside my room keeping me awake and mentioned this was not a complaint, but just for their information and advice. The gent at reception stated that "There is nothing we can do about it". I then mentioned that I appreciate that the noise was not generated by the hotel but that it may affect guests/their business and that (my being ex Environmental Health) I advised that it may be worth their wh

Good hotel with some issues, I have stayed here a few times rooms are always clean and comfy and the staff are excellent and helpful, rooms are well priced and warm. The restaurant and bar is nice but VERY over priced especially the bar. £40 for 2 courses and 2 drinks, and nearly £7 a pint

I spent 12 daus here, it was very convenient for my work on the ferry. It is five minutes walk to the ferry terminal. I enjoyed my stay here. My room was good clean and comfortable. The food in the restaurant was excellent. A good carvery every day. Plus plenty of other options. I found all the staff helpful and welcoming. Servicing of my room was a bit irregular.

Good sized room with a very comfy bed. Shower was great. Very clean throughout. All you could wish for for a business trip. Breakfast was good but with stornoway having such great black pudding why serve a hockey puck. Coffee not great. Overall nice hotel and would happily stay again as it is a good location and just a short walk to other bars and restaurants. Great reception staff.

The hotel is in a good location if you?re wanting a look around Stornoway. I stay here for work every other month and cannot complain. The staff are nice, rooms are nice and comfy and have everything you need for your stay. It?s a little dated but to be honest it?s nice and clean and that?s what matters The bar/restaurant are lovely aswell

Looks inviting but beware of some of the rooms. A very small single with a high bed against very high windows one could not see out of unless you are 7 feet tall( like a prison cell). Spartan tea/ coffee facilities. The saving grace was the food. A Carvery style evening arrangement with two main choices plus casserole style dishes, vegee options and Salad bar. Several desert options as well. Well situated for the ferry( five mins) also shops but nothing open on Sundays.
